awesome! i looked forever for at least some photos and i failed, thanks so much for posting some! what kit is on that white bike, do you know? 28 is huuuuge!
it looks like the white bike’s motor is moved further forward to make room, is that correct? i was considering that, but i’m not sure what i would do about belt length then. i was thinking of rotating the motor, pitching the front down and the rear up, ever so slightly, just enough to make room for the carb.
i knew you could probably stuff a bigger carb in a cita or possibly other vespa with a subframe swingarm, but i figured ciao would be more difficult.

Interesting idea, i’d like to see that : -)

He made a hole in the frame/rear fender. I believe he ran a 46 eurocilindro.

You should try a downdraft (valstroom) carburator. Mikuni has some of them.

i have a 20mm dellorto si carb, it is a down draft flat slide that came on some vespa small frame scooters back in the 1970’s i think. i’ve though about using it, but it’s even smaller than the dellorto i’m currently running.
the oko carbs are pretty good and very cheap, $58 for a 24mm. i’ll probably go that rout, though i’ve wanted to look into the bigger pumper carbs like the tillotson. plus side of a tillotson is no jets! just screws to adjust mixture!
at this point i just know i need to get my top speed up more to keep up with the top bikes on the race track! bigger carb, higher exhaust port and a calculated pipe and i think i’ll be there!

after messing with both a 24oko and a 24mikuni, it looks like i’m going mikuni. it’s a smaller carb and should fit much better, and it is a better carb over all. it is only about $30 more expensive, so it’s a no-brainer. i hope to have this done by the next race, oct 3!

Where can you buy one of these intakes? I searched for “Paolino racing” but couldn’t find anything…

It’s custom made, I believe ‘Paolino racing’ isn’t a shop or a brand either. I met the guy last year and he’s quite a handyman, I’ll look for his new project pics on ciaocrossclub.

The manifold isn’t that difficult to make, fitting everything in a ciao frame is.

Thanks! 🙂 How much do you think he charges for this kind of work? What modofications need to be done for fitting everything into the frame?

The big-frame Vespascooters use SI carburettors the biggest size is 24mm. They come with the P200 series and are pretty easy to adjust.

The Si 20mm carburettor is used on the PX80/125 and 150 cc models.
