there will still be a bit of a gap in there, as even with both the rings stacked, they wouldn’t be half as wide as that gap. fred told me i need to put the nut on the end of the shaft and give it a couple smacks with a hammer to get it seated proper.

werid! the rings came with the crankshaft, so i figured i should use them. the ring is soooo thin, like the thickness of two hairs.

aye, i did. they are so thin that i probably could have left them off and not noticed, though. one on each side, under each bearing.

yeha, that’s what i meant about losing compression. i usually mill the heads on my motors no matter what for the higher compression.

a thicker base gasket will raise the ports and advance the timing. problem with doing that, though, is that it gives you a larger squish zone, lowering your compression.
