  • I think that JMPB have confused the rear clutches a bit… I had similar issues before!
I think the omega springs are for the right clutch in the pictures in this post! You have the middle clutch, as I did before..

    http://vespa-ciao.nl/forums.php?m=posts&q=34018

The springs for that clutch should be 33mm-ish but the omegas are only 26mm

  • Note to myself regarding the stock settings of the PHBG 21mm CS:

    – 262 AU
    – 90 main jet
    – 50 middle jet
    – 60 bottom jet

I think I will find some time next week to machine the HPI parts (hopefully) then I will start CAD the fan and then finally mill a mockup.. also thinking about 3D printing a fan maybe, to keep the weight down.. (biggest…[Lees meer]

  • I just realized I have to re-machine a little.. I followed the HPI instructions and milled down 2mm below center ring, but now that I fit the parts I realize a couple of things

The rotor rest on the stator mounting bracket, doesn’t all the way down on the crank.

So, what I have to do is to do is:
1: Mill down fixing points on carter/crank…[Lees meer]

  • The reson I ask about the level, on the HPI rotor, there is a Hexagon that sticks up, that hexagon is completly flush with the 3 mounting holes that attaches the motor to the frame.. inside the hexagon it’s 4mm deep, thinking if this point is the same height as the original vliegwiel ring or if the top of the hexagon is the same reference point. 🙂

  • Hello,

This thread have been resting for a while.. I’m thinking of selling the project, due lack of time.
I put the motor on the table yesterday, started designing a fan for it, thought it will be easier to sell if it have some sort of cooling 😀

Anyway, I don’t have any original Ciao motor, so I can’t take any measurments, so I need your…[Lees meer]

  • Added the simonini calibrata to the package 🙂

  • Thanks! 🙂

I will need to buy myself a new crankshaft, I sold my malossi RV case complete with crank, should have kept the crank-shaft =/ But I’m not sure which to get, either the malossi, or a “normal” crank.

The malossi if fully round, which in theory should give higher crankcase compression, but practicly, will it actually give me more…[Lees meer]

  • @Lastpak, thanks 🙂 yes, a pictures tells more than a thousands of words, thought someone else might find inspiration or improvements aswell whilke thinking of making a “zelbouw zij inlaat” or how you spell it 😀

@AAT, Yes, the automatic coolant looks kind of ridiculous and gets a bit messy.. It’s very convinient when doing a larger job and…[Lees meer]

  • Thanks 🙂 Yes, right tools for a certain job isn’t the problem in my case, if it wasn’t for Martino, scaring me of all thoose poor quality simonin side inlet carters, I wouldn’t had the guts to put a brand new carter under the TIG, I pre-heated the carter on the cooking plate shown in one picture to aprox 190 degrees and kept my fingers crossed…[Lees meer]

  • Echo, echo, echo…..

Well, I haven’t sold it, I haven’t wrecked it, I haven’t been lazy (okey, a little bit lazy, I’ve been busy with my FPV quadcopter and repairing the brakes on my 1:1 car.)

Time is much, and I’ll tell a bedtime story about me going bananas, before I go for bed…

Say hello to Polini SE CP carter, and to the…[Lees meer]

Looks great, will follow your progress regarding the self made side inlet as I’m thinking about doing the same!
I’ve never worked with Durafix before, but it seems “easy” and in my opinion good that the carter is not under much heat, as when using a TIG. Keep up the good work! 🙂

  • Yes, that’s the guy! 🙂
But I don’t know how to get the port timings adjusted, due to the 46mm stroke crankshaft.. I need to do some research

Edit: One option is to use the 110cc Parmakit cylinderkit, made for 46mm stroke and 90mm rod. That might do the job… That motor would then be kind of evil I guess!

  • Haha, that’s what I’m afraid of, that’s why I brought it inside the apartment where the air is not that moist. Hopfully it won’t start rusting until the weekend 😀

Yes, I have thought about 16 million different colour combinations, but as I probably will use spraycans, I think I’ll go for a shiny white with black rims, fork, steering and…[Lees meer]

  • That SI is really fresh! They are together with the citta very rare in Sweden! The next project will definatly be a SI! =)

  • Thanks! 🙂
Will get the black C40 when I see it on Ebay again, as for now only the chrome is availble..

Got the frame to a company who sand blasts, got the frame back 20 minutes later, and I don’t regret any penny spent for the service!! Now it just needs some rust protection and some vulmiddel/filler around the welds before it’s ready for…[Lees meer]

  • It feels like I’ve been working all day long without any results….
Well, I managed to complete a couple of tasks atleast..

    – Change front axle to longer one
    – Change springs in the vario
    – Sand down some nasty welds

I did notice I have 100mm pulley in the rear clutch, is it recomended to use the 90mm instead? 90 for top speed, and 100…[Lees meer]

Thanks! Will have that in consideration, but you didn’t have much else for ciao in the shop? 🙂

Anyone have experience of thoose C40 clutch bells from Italy? Not the Ivano, I’m talking about thoose black/chrome versions that gab_pei sells on ebay.. I do want a strong and reliable bell, but thoose seem to have really big venting holes, so I’m…[Lees meer]

Today I got some work done! The rear fender and the reinforcement bar is welded. Also reinfoced the the attachments between the fuel tank the side panels. Unfortunatly I forgot to take some pictures of that, and the frame is at the workshop So I won’t be able to take pictures untik next weekend.

I did also finnish up the spacers on the fork..…[Lees meer]

@cooperring: Yes, I know about the atomizer, that’s one of the reason of my carb-headache 😀 Swedish nature is nice indeed. The police do matter about tuned mopeds, mostly they do raids at schools where there are alot of kids with tuned moped and if they see you drive by in in fast speed they will probably stop you.. But if you drive with inside…[Lees meer]

@lightlord – Thanks 🙂 I’ve seen there have been other Swedes around here before, when I search the forum 😀

@Martino – Are theese kick-start SE anywhere to be found, or is it the second hand market I should keep my eyes open at?

I have been searching a while for PHBG 21mm carbs and I must say the confusion is BIG, there are many many…[Lees meer]
