I was just testing the scooter pipe i am goi(ng to put the calibrata back together as i like it much better! Haven’t had issues with the flywheel yet but i will worry about it when it breaks 🙂
I use it every day when it isn’t snowing! The police don’t care… before this I had a derbi variant sport with a 74cc metrakit that I ported, tm24, vforce reeds, motomatic “race” pipe, lightened clutch bell and variator, lightened internals… that did mid-high 60’s (mph) and was loud as hell and the cops never stopped me.
well… if you are in an “official” mopedarmy “gang” then there is a members only buy/sell which has much cheaper prices, or if you are lucky enough to have a dealer account with treats or 1977mopeds (then you get a nice discount)… but I think in general the prices are not that expensive… maybe for a few parts?
the vespa malossi gears are $175
polini variator is $110
malossi 47mm DEPS cylinder kit is $297 (ouch!)
a stock used vespa CDI on treats is $200!so yes a few prices are a little too high in my opinion but that is because some of these parts never really made it over to the US i’m assuming? you guys probably all have CDI bikes am I right? I have a simo CDI and it was very hard to find but I did not have to pay much for it, I got lucky! I paid $75 for it.
I mostly get my parts from treatland or 1977mopeds but lately i have been sourcing parts from Italy for vespa… or just privately from people on mopedarmy. You guys are much nicer here 🙂
yes martino! I am having a difficult time finding the 90mm variated pulley faces here though, which is strange because those are the most common out here on the variated vespas…
here is the intake base plate I made for a 21mm spigot mount carb

here is the lightened CDI flywheel, material taken off all sides and milled down to fit on the malossi RV case

I actually traded a maxi frame and some cash to a friend of mine down in Springfield (4hrs away) and he brought this si up for me! It is a lot of fun to ride… it has the 100mm pulley faces and i think it may be limiting my top speed… besides having the stock gears.
Hey yes that is from treats 🙂 the black thing is actually a head temp gauge. I could not figure out a way to mount the cylinder cooling cap as the fin spacing is different so the clip does not … bolt on. I will tackle it again tomorrow if you feel it is necessary

thank you Jelle!
my introduction… I manage a cookie delivery store here in central Missouri. I work on mopeds in my spare time and I have a beautiful girlfriend and two dogs 🙂
I currently have a Si Monte Carlo with the “euro” clutch and 4.5k malossi springs, malossi 10pin crank, malossi reed valve case for CDI, stock CDI with lightened CDI flywheel, custom 21mm intake and a 21mm PHBG carburetor, simonini calibrata pipe, polini variator, blue polini contra spring, 47mm DEPS cylinder and malossi belt.
I have welded all the subframe joints where metal was pressed together so hopefully the subframe does not break.
next step is malossi race gears.
