Thank you, I will try that! 🙂
What kind of tools do I need for milling the crankcase?

hebbe, the engine i send you has everything on it and i always use silicone, also the cilinderhead is flatted with sand paper. cheers:bierGreat! Really looking forward to receiving it! :bier
What a pity. But thanks for the eBay Italy tip, I will look out for a Ciao version there.
Nice! But do you think the SI version will work on a Ciao?

Something like this:That´s funny, I tried it too but the translation is way off, some sentences are hard to understand
and some words are also completely wrong put.I will use the guide and translate the translation into real swedish…8)
Thanks for your effort.
I would be interested in reading the Swedish translation! 🙂

you have to place an G.Z. (parts wanted) topic in the sales departement 😛
they are pretty rare so, finding one soon is going to be a problem i thing,
unless someone has one for sale right now but i don`t think so…link to extra info (berini) + scroll the page a bit
I have a Kinetic Baghee/TFR (an Indian moped with a Ciao-like engine) with an ignition that looks exactly like in those photos. But unfortunately it is old and doesn’t seem to work properly.
ritze :
the new type “effe“ contact points have a built in failure.
when youre engine runs over 6000rpm the little cam on the contact point will break en you`ll be stuk @ the middle of nowere.the contact point `replacer` is a cunning little device wich allows you run it without points.
the drawback is that they get hot, and when they do, they will fail and no spark is generated.i also drove with them but also went dead for no aparrent reason.
maybe you are better of with an “berini“ ignition, this is like electric ignition but with a light flywheel.
and fits in a normal contact point engine, (se) (evo) (stock)Where can I read more about the Berini ignition? Where can it be bought?
8 december 2011 om 02:21 In reactie op: Modifying kick pedals to work on Ciao with side covers? #146352Nice, thanks again! The reason why I was asking was that I have been told on another forum that the pedals have to be modified in order to fit. But maybe they were wrong…

We’ve got an how-to on this forum. All written in Dutch, but with a lot of photo’s about this topic.http://www.vespa-ciao.nl/page.php?id=198
You scratching your side covers is not a problem I can recall.
Thanks. But are you sure that it will fit together with the side covers? Indeed there are lots of photos of kick pedals mounted on Ciaos, but can you find a picture of a kickstart Ciao with the side covers on?
Martino :
All electric fly wheels doesn’t have any holes in it for setting the ignition points. That is with the exeption of the Berini Fly wheels. So, left is for an pointer fly wheel and right for elec. Also another indication besides of the thickness of the outer diameters. Electric Fly wheels, don’t use any notch for opening the ignition points, so the inner center looks a little different.
Thanks! I can see now that they are indeed quite different.

Have you heard the grinding sound when the motor was running or was it like that when you bought it?How does the flywheel look on the side towards the crankcase? Does it seem scarred or jammed?
I guess that the Piaggio factory had a number of moulds to cast those carters in and some of
them may be a little bit out of shape causing some of them to be too big needing the machining. It was like that when I bought it. The flywheel looks ok, I guess, even though it is a little worn (it’s the one to the right):

Herr FlicK :
This isn’t damaged, this is standard drilled by Piaggio. The flywheel did never hit your carter.
Nothing to be worried about.Interesting, again – because I have two other carters (both cp carters), and only one has tiny marks looking a bit like those on this carter, and the other doesn’t have them at all. So only some carters are factory drilled/grinded like this?
DR-flenny :
doesn’t affect much no holes or crack as far as i can see.problem possible lies whit the mounting of the engine, for example the case was not closed enough so the crankshaft was a bit shorter and so the flywheel became closer to the case and made some marks.
don’t know if it is possible but you could try to put the small “washer” which is being used in cp carters ( the other kind ) between the case and flywheel. prehaps this solves it a bit.
Thank you for the advice.
No, there are no holes or cracks – I am just afraid that the flywheel will somehow keep grinding the carter down and that it will not run smooth.
ritze :
what is that?looks more like a voltage stabilizer.
does any cables from that box go to a light or something?
if you want to know if it is producing DC current, you just ad a DC electric motor, it schould run then
but it doesn`t with ACnormally is your CDI located at the sloping part of the tank, covered by a plastic cover, (also houses the horn)
Yes, they go to the lights.
