All electric fly wheels doesn’t have any holes in it for setting the ignition points. That is with the exeption of the Berini Fly wheels. So, left is for an pointer fly wheel and right for elec.

Also another indication besides of the thickness of the outer diameters. Electric Fly wheels, don’t use any notch for opening the ignition…

How does the flywheel look on the side towards the crankcase? Does it seem scarred or jammed?

I guess that the Piaggio factory had a number of moulds to cast those carters in and some of
them may be a little bit out of shape…

This isn’t damaged, this is standard drilled by Piaggio. The flywheel did never hit your carter.
Nothing to be worried about.

problem possible lies whit the mounting of the engine, for example the case was not closed enough so the crankshaft was a bit shorter and so the flywheel became closer to the case and made some marks.
