Hi Friends
thank you for all your comments on my Si.
it gives me great satisfaction knowing that the style i have chosen for my project is well received.Hansieb i don’t have a video now but i will get hold of a camera and do one for you.
it does also sound very nice, more like a 125 than a 70cc.
Edjuh the dogs danglees indeed !! i always like the custom seat and when i originally bought the bike years ago always wanted one but never got round to buying it, now was my chance !! hehehe
cheers for all your comments.
GiuseppeThank you friends
yes i put a lot of time and effort into the build, lot’s of nights in the garage.
Yes it is an original mono version from 1983.
cheers
giuseppeHi Edjuh
Glad you like it as it took a lot of time and effort getting it like that.
I got the clutch bell from ciaocross as you may know already.
Cheers
GiuseppeHi Edjuh
yeah i do get called joe aswell.
ok i will go down to a maximum of 75 and see.
Yeah finally good news hey about time.
cheers
GiuseppeHi Guys i am very glad to report that putting in some 6.6g rollers tonight things started to work. After warming up i gave it some WOT and i could see that the vario started to work and in turn opened the rear clutch disks up too, which i am very pleased about. Now i have to look at the carb again as with a max jet of 90 i am still far too rich as it smokes a lot and doesn’t rev freely when you ride it, lovely on the stand but on the road splutters like anything. May have to come right down to a 75 / 80 max jet on the 21mm phbg, don’t want to go too low for fear of being too lean then.
I would like to thank you very much for all your advise and you have been a great help.
Lets hope i can get it to run leaner now. Any advise on how low you can go with a max jet on a 21mm phbg ?
cheers
Giuseppemmmmmm strange why i’m getting all these issues then.
Oh well will have to keep trying.
many thanks
GiuseppeOk Niek i got the red triangles on anyway but just thought i would check.
Hi Edjuh no i never used the plastic bit as i was told was not necessary.
I will try and use a heavier roller combination tonight and see how it goes.
i’m gonna try 6.6’s and 7.6’s tonight as last night i only tried the 6.1’s.
Did you guys have these issues also when putting on a vario transmission, pain in the arse this is anyway.
thanks again guys
Giuseppeno problem.
I was intending on taking some pictures this weekend and then i will post them up for you to look at.
I take it the black vario front plate can only go on one way can’t it ? in other words i don’t think you can fit it wrong.
Do those red things have to be installed, i got them on now but i suppose can try without if possible ?
thanks
GiuseppeHi Guys
Just to update on the matter.
I replaced the rollers with heavier weights last night and even though the engine sounds better shall we say the vario still does not open, i have tried all sorts last night.
Took the clutch off checked everything all is good, cleaned up the bronze bus inside the clutch and lightly oiled it to make sure the tension springs moves freely, put everything back together and still the vario doesn’t open at all.
I even changed the yellow springs the 3×3 for the stock ones just in case.
Clutch disks all seem to be good as i can just about move them by hand. even putting a screw driver in them and they open up nicely once with the belt on and on the bike.
I am stumped to say the least and apart from trying another vario i really don’t know what else to do ? but that involves spending more money.
Would anyone have a good used working polini / malossi to sell at a good price and send to the UK, just a thought.
Thaks to all
Giuseppeexcellent Niek.
that’s what i wanted to hear.
I didn’t really be wanting to buy yet another set of rollers if it’s not required.
for test rollers to last so long possibly due to the covers protecting them.
i’m happy now.
cheers
Giuseppelovely niek.
thanks for clarifying that.
yes it is the TEST kit shall we say.
hopefully once i get this sorted then i’m going to have to buy some proper rollers to fit.
why would these need covers to fit Niek ? what’s the reason for that would you know.
cheers
GiuseppeHi Niek
i have had it on the stand revving it but still nothing and i rode it for a bit no change.
it gives me good take off speed but that’s it doesn’t variate.
what do you think i should get heavier rollers ? i thought that 5.1g’s would be fine on a 75cc.
i didn’t put the 4.7g ones on because i thought they were too light.
PLEASE ADVISE so that i can order them in.
do you think that having the malossi yellow clutch springs are too stiff and casuing problems here ?
cheers
GiuseppeHi Guys
I took the variator off tonight and all seems to be well with the fitting, with the malossi belt off it also slides across the crank arm nicely. When i put the belt back on then it doesn’t variate.
The clutch disks are also fine as they are quite tough to open so i can’t see the problem is there, multivar definitely not working as it’s not opening up at all i’m at a loss really.
HELP anyone.
Thansk All
GiuseppeHi Tnerul
yes i understand exactly what you mean on the subject.
i think the problem will lye with the variator for sure not variating at all which is what seems to be the case with mine.
I would be curious to find out from someone what the solution is – maybe to buy a new one ?
If i find everything is fitted correctly which i’m sure it is then i have no option really but to get another one.will do Niek that was i was going to check that it slides across the bronze bus correctly.
thanks
GiuseppeTnerual
i think you are correct in what you are saying, i heard some problems with the multivar wish i got the polini now.
i will take it off tonight just to check it’s installed properly and sliding well and if it still doesn’t variate i will speak to the shop i bought it from.
mine tends to stay in high gear will find out tonight.
thanks for all your help guys for opening my eyes.
