Quick update here!
The front also clears the frame no problem. Im now debating a pull start, although in an ideal world I’d like to keep the pedals.
I’ve moved the engine forward as far as I can and now the belt must sit about 6mm inside the clutch at the rear with a great hold from the malossi yellow spring.
When I try to start the ciao, the belt now no longer slips, but as all you giys have said,it doesn’t have enough force to turn the crank. So still no start. I had the bike painted in 2k black and have now made so many scratches moving the engine back and forth (only on the inside and round the mount points). Serves me right for painting before knowing my way around the moped!
Heres my thoughts, I either:
1. scrap the vario and go back to the pulley system, wasting the vario set up I had bought.
2. Go back to a standard engine and try to enjoy the limited 25km/h it will surely offer up! (I recently prepared the original casings for a DR as a little fun project so I would need new casings)
3. Electric block (would need to buy new block and ignition)
4. Pull start/kick start. (Need the pull start kit or kick start block)
What do you guys think?
I did even try with a standard vario and completely standard clutch with both 100mm and 90mm discs just to see if the polini was pushing the belt too tightly.
