      Hello 🙂

Recently i have changed wheels and tires in my Si Mix and i noticed that max speed is lower than on original setup.

      Original setup, 47 km/h:
      – triple spoke rims (picture 1)
      – Pirelli tires 2,5*16” (pictures 2-5)

      New setup, 44 km/h:
      – four spoke rims from Bravo (picture 6)
      – Duro tires 2,5*16” (pictures 7-8)

Is it possible that Duro tires and/or four spoke rims dont allow to go faster?

I know tire pressure can affect top speed a lot so maybe check that?

In the end it comes down to rolling resistance. As SuperSi points out, tire pressure can affect top speed because it increases rolling resistance. I couldn’t find numbers on the differences between ‘offroad’ tires and ”semi slick’ ones regarding rolling resistance. However i did find sources that state that rolling resistance can be lowered by lower thread depth.

Energyloss occurs when the tire has to roll through it’s footprint and is turned into heat. This energyloss is compensated by the engine. And since our engines don’t have much available horsepower and you’re talking about topspeed, this means topspeed isn’t as high as before with a ‘difficult’ tire.

Ok, thanks for the answers. I drive a lot in light terrain/forest roads/road not paved so i need tires with deeper thread. But maybe there are some tires that allow higher speed on the roads and better grip in terrain.

Is a brake cable stretched too tight?

Or did you also replace the rear transmission with the new wheel?
              There are several of them.

The brake can’t be too tight. It is the same as i was before, when moped was running faster. I did not replace the transmission. It is the same as before, original, single speed, non varieted transmission. I just cleaned it and changed the oil.
