:: What is wrong with my belt?
-
I ran 40 kilometers yesterday and when I got home my brand new malossi belt looked like the lower picture.
This is before I started:

This is how it looked like when I came home:

I had 7 gram weights in my Malossi Vario and a yellow Malossi spring in the clutch.
My guess is that the spring was too strong but someone of you should know better.
Or is it just normal?
In my opinion the Malossi belt will wear of a littlebit to quickly, but this is even to fast for Malossi.
Does your belt run freely when he variates. I see a “inbus”bolt on the photo. Maybe the belt will scrape against this bolt.
Generally spoken, Malossi is a bit overrated.. PErfect example fo this is your problme.. Typical for the Malossi Belts.. Perhaps you could check if the belt’s position is in One-line, and straight enough? Lesson for the next time: Gates belts are better 😉
OK, lessons learned.
About the inbus, that is the rear motor bolt so that should not be a problem.
Have a look at this picture:

You can see the left side footpeg and to be safe from getting my pants in the belt I put on a cover of carbon fiber.
The two bolts are pretty much in the center line of the belt so I figured it would clear the belt but maybe the holders have been rubbing off the belt, I will check for marks and let you know.
I will look for new belt too…
Update:
I realize that this was my mistake totally, the holders for the protective carbon fiber was rubbing the teeths off the inside of the belt, have a look at the picture:

I could not imagine that the movement of the belt was that big, it´s not easy to see when you´re driving.
I have to find another way to put the protector on or simply go with no protector.
