Hello,  after a repair on my Gilera EC1 Motor with new Piston Cylinder and New Ignition-Coil, Condenser and new Contact Points the Moped has no power and is running very rich.

Problem is i still have a weak Spark,  on the cable coming from the contact Points i can only measure around 2 Volts in idle and 4,5 Volts with high revs. The Coil under the Flywheel was measured with 1,2 Ohms, the coil for light delivers 6 volt in low idle.

Are there more Tests to do with the coil or can it be defect with the resistance still beeing ok?

      thanks for your help,

      max

Weak spark? But it runs? It can be oké.
Are you shure if the new coil is for 6 volt points ignition?
You can try the lightcoil on the ignitionside, just swap the wires,
        only to test.
        Points at 0,45?
You sure there is no short circuit with the wire: coil-points-condenser-ignitioncoil?
        So isolation is oké?
And you sure ignitioncoil en engineblock make good ground with the frame,
        no rust or paint between?

No power, maybe because of the new cilinder and piston, they have to “run in”.
Running very rich? Mainjet to big?
You already find our mainjet database?
        https://vespa-ciao.nl/sproeier-database/

You sure about your main jet, you say 43
The database gives 46-52 jets to chose out.

Watch out it’s not running to lean, it will destroy your
        cilinder kit.

Run in the cilinderset very nice for 4-600km’s.
No high revs, and don’t drive long time with one rpm.

I assume that the Spark is weak because its color is more into Purple/Yellow  than Blue/White.

My motor is now sitting on the bench to test but changed Condenser Ignition Coil and Points with both old and new and results are the same.

Without the Points the primary spool is delivering 8Volts, with Points Connected and Condenser its 3Volts and with Connection to the Ignition Coil its only 2V (all AC).

The Lightspool is deliverung 5,5V and the Blinkerspool 12V.

The coil has good ground and the cables  have no defects.

Can i just buy new Coils from the Standardmodel without Blinker or do i need to change also the flywheel?

You are concentrating on the electrics/ignition
but you have spark and the engine runs.

How is the main jet size, is that oké etc etc.
What I told about. You say nothing about that.

I dont know if you can use the coil from std ignition
Ask the shop where you buy.
Or try first the lightcoil as I said.

            Gr. Wim.

I changed the primary Coil and testet the Spark with Motor on the Bench and secondary Coil directly attached to the motor and the Spark is now Blue/White instead of Yellow/Orange.

Also the Exhaust was full of oil from all the testing which i burned out.

No the Engine is back in the bike and Runs good in medium and higher rpm but idle is not good.

I tried the 12/12 replica Carb with unkown jet size(no marking) and it barely idles with idle srew completly in and with no airfilter, with airfilter it stops immediatly. After stopping the Spark Plug is covered with black oil.

With the 12/10 Carb and 43 jet it doesent idle and only runs with air filter and doesent rev so high like 12/12 with the other jet. Same happens with the 12/12 Carb and the 43 Jet. After Stopping the Plug is also covered with black oil.

I did a fresh mixture with 1:50. As Plug i both used the old Bosch Plug which was in the Motor when i got it and also a new Isolatior 260 from my Simson with same results.

Compression was testet with 10 Bar. Points are Set to 0,4 when the cam is on the highest point.

My concern is that its to rich in idle or the ignition on low rpms is sill not strong enough. At Simson i can adjust the idle screw and also the swimmer in the carb needs to be adjusted but on the ciao carb i dont see this options.
