Hello everyone,
I mount on my set up new GIANNELLI FIRE yesterday. Till now I have SITO PLUS exhaust and top speed was around
60 km/h.– DR EVO 43 with port matching
– dellorto 13/13 + malossi air filter, widen carb intake
– 90 mm vario with malossi contra yellow spring
– electronic ignition
– 9 g roller weights
– main jet 66 ( with SITO PLUS 64)With new expansion exhaust and a litlle bigger main jet 66 (before 64)is top speed now 55 km/h. Where do I was making mistake. What could be a problem.:?
Thanks in advance!
23 september 2015 om 12:37 #1482789gr roller weights are a bit on the heavy side for the Gianelli fire. Gianelli fire have more power in a higher RPM band than the Sito Plus.
Try 6 to 8gram roller weights (if you can, mix them to finetune it).
23 september 2015 om 13:12 #148279Hello,
At home I have complete of 6 g, 7g and 9 g roller weights sets. Do you suggested me that I maybe mix 3×7 g and 3x9g or ??
23 september 2015 om 14:20 #148280Yeah you could start with mixing 6g with 7g. make sure to spread them evenly. first a 6g roller, then a 7g roller.
This would make a 6.5g average roller.Problably a little bit too light, since the Gianelli Fire isn’t a highRPM exhaust, but definitely a higher RPM exhaust than the Sito.
23 september 2015 om 17:10 #148281Niek1992 thanks for the suggestions.
Is it wise that you mix the 6g and 9g or 7g and 9g roller weights?Anyone else have maybe another opinion.
regards
23 september 2015 om 17:15 #148282i personally think you should go lower with the weights. Friend drives a Polini speedengine with DR43evo, exhaust is a Gianelli original power, and he runs with ~6.5g rollers.
if i were you i would get my hands on one of those ”adjusting rollersets” (clickable). that way you can pinpoint the best rollers for your specific engine.
23 september 2015 om 21:41 #148283I have exactly the same setup.
My topspeed was 79 with main jet 70, gianelli fire, malossi vario and 7 grams roller weights. 😉24 september 2015 om 18:13 #148284Today I have installed 6x 7g roller weights. Top speed is raising to 61 km/h. Should I go little bit down, maybe 3x 6g and 3x 7g?
24 september 2015 om 20:58 #148228yeah you could. If you keep your eye on your variator while accelerating, you can see if it’s variating too fast, and thus not reaching topspeed.
25 september 2015 om 09:15 #148242Do you mean by this if the roller weights are too light it variates too fast and vice versa too slow with heavier rolls?
:con
25 september 2015 om 10:56 #148241I think this is wat niek1992 ment to say.
If the rolls are very licht, it wil not variate.:no and not reach topspeed.
If the rolls are to havy, it wil variate to soon.:noSo if you have a tuned setup that has its top power at say 9000 rpm, you need lighter rols than for a standaard setup.(y)
A set up whit a lot of power wil need a stronger spring in the cluch. en thus may need heavier rolls.:!
but the principle stays the same.:p26 september 2015 om 11:01 #148285Just wondering, which gears are you using .. 1:11,5?
27 september 2015 om 07:14 #148286Sorry for may late response, I have 1:12.5 gearing. Yesterday I was also put mixed 3x6g and 3x7g rolls (average 6,5 g) but the top speed remains around 60 KM/h (GPS) only the acceleration is maybe a little bit better. I assumed that with my gearing (1:12.5)I’ve already reach the limit:(
Do you think I must looking for gearing MALOSSI 1:9 or CIF 1:9.5? What about some bad experiences with CIF gearing?
