Revised the fork. Also installed the Moparts bearing.
There wasn’t any manual with the bearing kit explaining which nuts to keep and washers to use where.
I have a conical nut + washer inside the brake shield atleast.IMG_20190629_115542IMG_20190629_120939IMG_20190629_141744IMG_20190629_173639

New Continental rubbers mounted and the varionaf too..
Gonna install the Pinasco Flywheel aswell before I complete it.
The front brake seem to grab at certain place each lap.. I think itäs because the Moparts front wheel bushing is tiny bit larger than the axle, so it’s not really centered.

            Nice update  😎
What about the front wheel? Maybe you can check if the spacers and tube still have space. Or is it really the brake?

              Thanks! 🙂

I’m pretty sure it’s not the brakeshield/remnaaf because the more I tension the brake cable the worse it get.
If I tension it that much I would want, to have a pretty stiff lever, then the wheel will stuck at this precise part of rotation. (by hand)

Either the brake shoes needs to brake in, or there is something else.
I hade noted that the wheel-axle is a loose fit inside the moparts-tube, and there is nothing that actually centers it either.
With original bearings, we have the Cone-nut, that will center the wheel on the axle.

Took down the engine to install the pinasco flywheel!

Nice squishband on the polini head, they really know how to make good quality products! *NOT*

WTF … I think JMPB might have sent wrong cylinder head.. I ordered 38-43mm, but I thin it’s 46mm based on numbers on casting.

Edit: The package says 211.0226 (38,4-43mm)
                  The casting says 21.0227 (46mm)
The diameter of the chamber is 41mm, so I think it’s correct head, however it’s really off-center.

Definitely this head should be the one for bigger bore cylinders, but also not 46mm. Actually more like 44mm at maximum. Strange it says on your package the right Polini art.code. which is indeed 211.0226 for the smaller bore cylinders. You’r sure the sparkplug and squishband is offcentre? By the looks of the carbon deposit, yes it does, but i think this is due to the offset of the cylinderthreads of your Polini Carters. And in many occasions you can also pivot the cylinder and cylinder head a small margin to correct this.

Yes, it’s all strange.. However I’m Confident that this is the correct head but someone mixed up the numbers in the casting. Because I only have 41mm in diameter of the chamber, that would correspond well for a 43mm head.
As for the off-center, I noticed as you stated, it’s possible to pivot cylinder and head to get a better match.

Unfornunatly, as the head is 41mm and cylinder is 43 there is 1mm on each side that ruin the squishband.
In my opinion the head would need some machining so it matches the piston. But since it’s possible to pivot the cylinder and head, that would be risky, if not pivot correct the piston would hit the head. And how Wold it be possible to mount correctly without sitting inside the combusion chamer 😀

I had 0,7mm “squish” to the flat edge of the head (that edge that ruin the squishband) without any gaskets. With 0,5mm base gasket I would have 1,2mm and with head gasket that would be 1,5-1,7 depending on head gasket.

Until now, I have only driven with 0,3mm base gasket, no head gasket, that would render in 1mm “squish” to the flat edge of the head (that edge that ruin the squishband).

I Think it would be safe to take off atleast 0,7mm from the head, without correcting the squishband. And adding a head gasket ofcourse.

If there is no way to center te cilinder head, your squish distans wil vary fome site to side.
And keep in mind that te squihs distans includes the deck heigt of the cilinder. The best way to go about it is to lower te head in to the cilinder.

Yeah, something like the Evoten.. However this should be a daily driver, so I’m trying to not elaborate that much otherwise it will be sitting in the garage all summer 😀
I’m thinking about only to maal the top, to compensate för thicker base-gasket and head-gasket that will be added and leave the rest as is.

Lets pray this will work, and there is no motherload of compression. According to calculations the squish should be 1.0mm

I’m disappointed with the quality of Polini lately. Shame.

Nice work when you have these tools. I reckon you will higher the whole cylinder to get your desired squish? This will also means your inlet and exhaust duration will be longer. I’m interested to see what your results will be?

If im not incorrect, only 0,5mm Base gasket and 0,5mm head gasket.. The top will protrude 0,2mm inside The cylinder. So the timings should not be affected that much.
