Hi every one, i’ve got my ciao running real well now but when ridding it over about 35mph the steering is too light,
we haven’t got the greatest roads over here, and i think i may end up in a ditch!
I’ve got 19″ wheels and standard forks, whats the besr thing to do, fit a steering damper?

Thanks diac, but will those forks take my big 19″ wheels? I’ve got to do something to the front end,
I got in a speed wobble, and nearly sh*t myself!!!!!

            Wobbles are a bitch!

It will take your wheel 😉 This will fit perfect on your Ciao!

This fork is good but not very strong I’ve heard but I only drove it once on Sil’s Ciao (2f4ov) and it drove very smoothly.

you have to stabilisate it, so it’s stronger.

yes, make a plate of steel (about 4 – 5mm thick) in an U-shape. put it over your wheel and mount it to your fork. that will be a lot better to drive.

a steering damper is a bit too much i think. it’s difficult to find a damper that is proper for this job. and you can’t turn your wheel fast if you suddenly got to make a turn or just drive through some sharp corners.

A fork brace sounds a good idear, i think the ciao handled better when i had drop bars on it, got a bit more of my
16stone weight on the front wheel! I was just looking at the steering damper on my RD350, thought it would do the trick
on the ciao, over the top i know!!!!

I think it’s the best idea just to buy a EBR front fork for ciao (you can buy them at http://www.JMPB.nl) and make, what you call a, fork brace. it’s way better then your original fork.

                    ps. RD350, sounds good 🙂

I’ve got to order some parts from JMPB, i’ll see if i’ve got enough euro’s left to buy some forks.
I have a few old motorbikes at home, but my mopeds are my favorite, makes me feel like i’m 16 again,
                      that was a time ago!!!!
