Simonini Calibrata 30 mm

Based on old experience I think the 22 millimeter tube on the exhaust is too small to deliver good power.

I am considering putting a Calibrata 30 mm exhaust on a engine with a 43 mm cylinder.
Of course I know that I have to modify the exhaust pipe connector on the cylinder to take on the Calibrata.

My concern is that the expansion tube will be out of size for the small displace cylinder.

Have anyone tried this conversion before?

The Simonini Calibrata is also made with a 30mm exhaust tube.
But they only changed the part then goes over the exhaustport.
I don’t really know if somebody ever did that.

I myself have a 28mm Calibrata wich i’ve used with a 43mm tuned Creco. Together with a tube around the original exhaust flange from the cylinder. 28mm=>22,3mm
Best top speed meassured with this exhaust. Almost 90 km/h GPS. Take into account I had tested with lot of different exhausts. This setup was used in the latest exhaust test from 2011. Have a look here. (Pulley 65)

Almost no leaks around the flange. If you can make the little tube with a perfect fit.

By looking at you test it seems like the Calibrata is a bit too large meant for bigger displacement cylinders but you have it working properly.

Maybe have a better look, since we did not test the Calibrata on the actually testday. There was little no time to test all the exhausts we wanted in just one day. Later on I’ve had the Calibrata tested. So the link is only for comparison to other exhausts.

It is somewhat a myth the Calibrata performs only good on bigger cylinders.
