:: Pinasco vs Simo Cylinder head
-
Hello,
I’m looking for the best performing cylinder head for a 46mm Pinasco black cylinder.
The original cylinderhead is very small, but I’ve found the old Simo 3-tap cylinder head to be bigger in pictures, would this cylinder head perform better than the Pinasco original head?
Is the simocop for 46mm? I beleive its 90cc, but maybe the crank is stroked and the diameter still is around 46mm
I understand there will need to be some modifications to the frame, thats not a problem. I’m looking for the best performing head.

Although there is not that much of a performance difference between cylinderheads. Your Simonini “new” type head is 48mm and a little to wide for your Pinasco cylinder. This head also will not fit on any Ciao frame. Furthermore your Pinasco head should be enough and okay for your cylinder. I’ve seen 4 different type of heads from Pinasco most of them are 45mm wide. My personal favorite is the Pinasco head with central sparkplug, but this version is only 43mm diameter.
If you can choose between the Pinasco and Simoni i would stick with the Pinasco.
The 47mm deps head is also a head with 47mm diameter and central spark plug. But paying €65 for that on jmpb is to much.
Thats for your input, I beleive I wasn’t clear in my original post.
I’m not looking for performance in horsepower or such.
I’m looking for a head with best cooling performance 🙂
The reason is the HPI inner rotor that I will use is uite big, so it will be a bit hard to achive a good designed fan that can cool the engine properly, so I was looking for a bigger head with better cooling options. 🙂
