You don’t see people doing that too often but some say they can’t live without it. I’m not sure if it is absolutely necessary but it looks cool 8)

Home made engine dyno1 mei 2013 om 10:43 #268270Arvid, yes looks very cool. :relax
as there was not enough sealing surface against the cylinder port in the small carter half I tried to fill that area up with Alu-soldier.

wil see the outcome after cooling down and grinding. 😀
EDIT:
finished, looks very good.

10 mei 2013 om 15:11 #282607ignition received 😀

krukas and rotor cone polished together

enlarged the pocket in the rotor to fit with the carter

fit perfect
10 mei 2013 om 15:17 #267713Whoop there it is!

Nice to see an all fitted rotorignition, but i don’t understand what you mean by enlarging the pocket?
Unfortunately no pink HPI/Simonini ignition coil? 😀
10 mei 2013 om 15:36 #282307hahaha, yes JMPB is very fast. 😀
Yes the first thing that I saw was that the ignition coil is black and not pink. 😕
I mean the 2mm podest in the middle of the carter where the sealing ring comes in.
I had to enlarge the pocket in the rotor for that, otherwise it came not deep enough on the cone.
10 mei 2013 om 16:41 #281770Nice, good to see that you use your know-how well
TICKLING BARN10 mei 2013 om 16:46 #281771thanks man. 😉
But now I’m facing another challange. I will have to make a big hole into the frame to make space for the ignition.

and in combi to green, a orange cylinder 😀
13 mei 2013 om 11:00 #282626You also need to modify the frame where the cylinder meets the frame, or am I wrong? And what kind of cooling system are you going to choose, water cooling witch is powered with battery or are you going to modify some kind of waterpump??
Greetz
By the way, is it a AM6 or a minarelli cylinder?
13 mei 2013 om 18:50 #282631yes, that is right. The right front side below the fuel cran need to be modified.
Regarding water cooling I need to make some thoughts, may be a mechanical driven pump from Kart race engines.
It is a Parmakit cylinder.
Here some pics when I tried to put the block into a frame

13 mei 2013 om 20:29 #282634By kart cooling pump you meen, like a polini waterpump wich are used for de 41mm polini h2o kit? And I see that the changes that you schould make to your frame aren’t different than de modifications wich are necessary for mounting a new model simonini engine. I am going to follow your perso from now on!!
13 mei 2013 om 22:34 #267835i really like the position of the carb! looks very cool.
nice work on the rotor to:)14 mei 2013 om 17:09 #276981misterd11, it is interesting that the modifications on the frame aren’t different to the changes to mount a new model Simo.
Is there somebody here in the forum who already did that modification for the new Simo in a Ciao frame?
The kart pump is similar to the Polini pump.
Lastpak, yeah, the carb position is very cool. I like that too. 😀
15 mei 2013 om 21:44 #282635Here piet a link of ricks simonini 2007 ciao, with the modifications to the frame: click
I really like the carb posistion to, but the frame blocks the abillity to mount a large airfilter! What kind of filter are you going to use??
16 mei 2013 om 13:28 #276760Ganz geile farben.
But now you have to modify this beautiful frame? : /
This engine is not on sprocatti’s website, am I right?
17 mei 2013 om 16:42 #282639Hi Edjuh, yes the frame need to get some modifications, not only for the engine, also to make it stronger at the rear end I think.
For that I try to weld some stiffness sheets in.
I bought the frame like it is in the moment, otherwise I would have made the modifications before painting. But I think it is not a big problem to paint the modified areas later in the same color again. 😉You are right, this engine can not be found at the Sprocatti website. It is very rare till now I think. The only similar Ciao with the carb on top is here:

pic quality is bad, so don’t know if it is the same like mine.
Hi misterd11, thanks for Rick’s link. So I now have an rough idea how the front left modification can look like.
So far no idea about airfilter, think that will come at the end. 😀
