Hello, i have decided to put a fuel filter in my Piaggio Si (rust in the fuel tank). Unfortunately there is very little space fot it to put anywhere. I did put it like on the picture below (fuel hose goes around air filter and connects carb banjo from the other side), but the fuel doesn’t flow sometimes and the moped chokes. When the fuel hose is connected to the carb the fuel doesn’t flow, but when i disconnect it, the fuel flows normally. Is the fuel hose too long for it to work properly? Or maybe there isn’t enough fuel hose drop?

I use a standard paper fuel filter (picture below), but maybe there is a smaller filter that can fit better. I also tried with a fuel tap that has outlet on the other side, but it seems like there is even less space than in with standard fuel tap.

Did anybody have a similar problem with a fuel filter in Piaggio Si? What can i do to make it work?

I wouldn’t put that filter on, even if there is no rust in the tank.

They close quickly and then the mixture becomes lean. With all its consequences.
Too many people on the forum have experienced engine damage whit this paper filter.

The real solution is to derust the tank.

By writing “they close quickly” you mean that the filter clogged and gives no fuel? That is weird, because i use this filter in Piaggio Bravo for about 2-3 years now and there were never any problems with lean mixture or engine damage. Of course i change this filter once in a while. Maybe the filter you write about is different?

As Zevenenergie said: the only solution is derosting your tank. It’s not hard, just takes a bit of time..
I’m actually derosting the tank of my Si atm

This product can help you out:

Hey Intellect80, thanks for this advice 😉 I was looking for some deruster, but didn’t find anything as good as Rostio. I will try it 😉
