      Hi everybody,

My name is Hugo, living in Amsterdam and unfortunately still with a horrible Dutch level to be able to write in Dutch. (I am working on it). It is great that I found today this huge Vespa Ciao website, thanks for the job you guys did here.

Yesterday I bought this beautiful Vespa Ciao (Snorfietsen) and today questions start coming to my head. The bike have been painted by the previous owner but I do not know if technically he aslo put some effort of just cosmetic.

Yesterday night I wrote an email to him asking if he changed the oil recently or I should change. His reply this morning was that this bike do not use oil and only I have to put the oil mix with the petrol.

I understand that this engine is not like a tradicional 2 strokes engine, but for sure somewhere must have a lubrication. There must be gears on the bike and after his reply I am sure he never changed or even refilled.

Looking at the forum I arrive to the conclusion that (if I am right) the oil goes at the gears at the rear wheel. But I could not find anywhere how to refill it. Where is the hole to insert the oil.

I downloaded online the Ciao service manual but not even there I could find the answer.

Is there any other lubrication at the bike that I should be worry about? and which oil (for gearbox) you guys recommend that I can find easily in Amsterdam?

Thank you very much in advance.

        Welcome

Nr. 5 is oil refill for the gears. You can ask for gear oil at your bike shop. Or check at one of our webshops for the right product. Fill up with the bike standing right up until it comes out of the hole.

It doesnt have an oil pump so you mix your oil through the petrol, like a lot of 2 strokes.

Good luck with your ciao, its a neat one indeed.

          Hello Edjuh,

Thanks for this very fast and clear answer. I will have a look to the webshop to see the correct oil to refill at the gears.
