      Hi!

I was just wondering if it’s possible to modify a malossi crankshaft like this person has modified his mazzucchelli crankshaft —> http://www.mijnalbum.nl/Foto-V76FNI8O.jpg I have the malossi crankcase for kickstart and another crankshaft with this little jagged peg you also need to have for kickstart. My qusetion is, can I move this jagged peg from my first crankshaft to my malossi crankshaft?

yes, u can repres(?) the kick part of the Crankshaft to ure original Malossi cranckshaft i beleve Hansieb & Herr Flick have done the same, Heuvel85 can repres the Cranksharft, but i dont know if he got the time to do thath,
if i was u i should PM Heuvel85, with thath question

Okay, thanks for responding. I’ll try to contact my local workshop to see if they can fix it. I live in Sweden so I don’t think letting Heuvel85 do it would be an opportunity. 🙂

You will have to press-out the kickstartpin from the original crankschaft, mill it’s end down to a smaller diameter, drill a hole in the malossi crankshaft and pressfit the milled down kickstartpin into the hole.

Ofcourse this means that you will have to use the correct negative tollerances for the hole and pin to be tight enough to withstand the forces applied when kickstarting but also be loose enough to be mounted

Ok.So i can’t press-out the pin from the malossi crankshaft? I’ll have to drill a hole right through? I measured the diameter of the kickstartpin(15mm) and compared it with the pin on the malossi crankshaft( also 15mm) and discovered that they had the same diameter. Do I still have to mill the kickstartpin’s end down to an even smaller diameter?

you have to drill a hole whit a smaller diameter in the malossi crankshaft.
I think 10 mm is good. Then you need to take the kick crankshaft and press out the kickstart pin.
yo got to reel off the lower piece of the kick crankshaft till its only 10 mm in diameter.
Then you have to press it into the hole in the malossi crankshaft.

                Toch?

Thanks Ami. Now I see what I have to do :). Better hope my local workshop can fix this thing and hope you find yourself a Malossi kickstart reed valve for a reasonable price.

How can you drill a hole in a bigger hole? Or am I abuis here?
There is allready a hole with a 15 mm dm in it, right?

I’m not sure but I think the pin on the malossi crankshaft is welded so there isn’t actually a hole, but you may be right aswell. I’ll have to look it up.

The malossi crankshaft is indeed made of only 2 parts and a big-end pin. A normal crankshaft is made of 4parts and a big-end pin. (connecting rod and bearings not included)

So I’ll have to cut, not press, off the big-end pin on the malossi crankshaft?

No, you only need to drill a hole in the malossi crankshaft and press-in a partially milled down kickstart pin from an original crankshaft.

Yeah but to do that I have to remove the malossi pin first, right? An to do that I have to cut off the pin since I cannot press it out. Or am I supposed to drill a hole in the malossi pin? How wide is the hole supposed to be? :con
