Hey just need a quick answer, which one should i pick, malossi or athena? 46,5/46mm.
Which got best effect, quality? going to use 19mm carburator @ eurocilindro sideintake. exhaust will i get later.4 december 2010 om 00:25 #147957They bouth are good cylinders but I advice the malossi 46,5, because the 46mm athena sometimes have problems that the lower part of the cylinder clasp.
And most of the time this problem will break off the lower part of the cylinder after driven a couple of 100km.4 december 2010 om 00:29 #147958speedbuxy :

4 december 2010 om 09:19 #147959Yes Athena is the more powerfull of the two, but quality not assured.

.-{2F4OV}-.If you tikkle (read tune) the malossi cilinder a little bit it’s performance will be the same or even better than the untuned athena
4 december 2010 om 14:08 #147965i would take the pinasco 46mm black.
it’s a good and fast zylinder.
MofaFreak has shown how much this zylinder can!4 december 2010 om 14:19 #147967@ .-(2F4OV)-. Well maybe i will tune it 😉
@ Coppering Is the pinasco better then malossi? in effect or quality? The ports looks kind of lame..
Could you link either a video or a thread on his ciao?4 december 2010 om 14:29 #147969I would take the 46,5 mm Malossi.
4 december 2010 om 14:39 #147970Malossi beter = the pinasco black
4 december 2010 om 14:49 #147971Question is about the Athena vs the Malossi.
So there’s no need to pull some other cylinders in this topic.
Since then we could go on for hours.4 december 2010 om 15:03 #147968okay sorry, but i heard just bad things from the malossi 46,5 so i sold it directly.
He will be stuck i think.
So take the Athena 😉4 december 2010 om 23:19 #147978Frank65cc: How do you mean? the pinasco is better?
Martino: its fine for me, if the pinasco really is better i will pick that one. Just that i havn’t got any straight answer in which way its better…
Coopering: hmm thats the opposite of what everyone else says. Malossi is caskiron, so i think it should last a bit, since it cant have bad nicasil for example, like the athena.

No, the Athena will be faster untuned.
4 december 2010 om 23:58 #147980Both the Athena and also some of the new Pinasco cylinders will show the same troubles with a piston that’s struck in the beginning of the cylinder wall. The Pinasco is a fine cylinder, but you have to make some porting adjustments to get the full potential of this kit. So with the Pinasco you need a little bit of luck to get a flawless one or adjust it beforehand.
Out of the box the Athena will be the fastest of the 3. And if you don’t mind the discussion about other brands. I would like to bring the 46mm Polini in the mix.
This is also a cast iron cylinder with a great finish, maybe not the fastest but definitely the most quality. To get a little bit more power you can also tune the exhaust port since this is a very little one. And not to forget this kit is not so hard to get by.
5 december 2010 om 00:14 #147982Ok, so you mean that the issues with the pinasco can be taken away by some tuning?
Yeah thats kind of what i thought, just that i want it to last..
Well i dont really want a polini, it’s too mainstream here and it’s for lowrevs mostly. I like some power on high 😉
Gonna probably use ninja usine or calibrata too it.What about malossi 46,5mm, then mod on a bigger outtake, like 30mm and use a calibrata on that. Good idea?
