yes, choose the malossi, u can very easily treat it if you have the right stuff 😉

.-{2F4OV}-.I’d take the Pinasco. Pretty good quality and very fast. Above all, it is an alloy cilinder. Alloy cilinders tranfer the heat better than cast iron. And I see you are driving with variomatic. This means your cilinder runs at high rpm longer than with normal transmission (not variomatic). So it’s better to take an alloy cilinder because the cilinder won’t heat up as much as a cast iron cilinder.
31 december 2007 om 10:06 #144735you bring up a good point with the heat transfer difference. i intend to tune my clutch and variator to keep me in the powerband as long as possible, so i should probably take that into consideration.

.-{2F4OV}-.Would be nice
31 december 2007 om 19:11 #144737I don’t think the material of the cilinder on a vespa is that important. a vespa cilinder will never be able to reach rpm’s as high as 13k, which air cooled cast iron scooter cilinders can easily handle.I would still go for the malossi, I red you had plans to tune the cilinder, and in my opinion the malossi has more potential when it comes to that. based on the porting, in my view the malossi also has mutch more potential untuned. the most common of problems is the low timing and small exhaust port. improve these 2 and you’ll shurely notice a big difference!
31 december 2007 om 19:52 #144738u can easily change the exhaust port to 27 – 30mm on the malossi, that makes a big difference.
also it makes a difference about the heat because u can get more exhaustgasses out of the cilinder at a time.
so if you do that u don’t have to worry about overheating the cilinder.
like i say. if you wanna treat the cilinder go for the malossi.
if you dont wanna treat it > choose the pinasco 😉31 december 2007 om 20:15 #144739i think i will go ahead and get the pinasco for now. i can get the malossi kit locally, but since i have to order the case and crank from .nl anyway, i will try out the more exotic cylinder first.
i do have another ciao that i will be buying parts for eventually, so i’ll try out this pinasco and see how i like it.
when it comes time to buy a kit for the other ciao, i’ll get the malossi from my guy here in the states and put the pinasco on the other ciao.3 januari 2008 om 04:27 #144740can someone tell me what size header the pinasco 80 kit has?
3 januari 2008 om 10:12 #144741
.-{2F4OV}-.what do you mean with size header? If you order this one it will fit perfectly on ur ciao
3 januari 2008 om 11:05 #144743Normal 46mm head? What else would you expect?
3 januari 2008 om 15:34 #144744
.-{2F4OV}-.That’s what I thought aswell;)
3 januari 2008 om 18:05 #144745not sure, i don’t want to end up ordering the wrong size pipe, so i thought i would ask.
and yes, i ment what size header pipe does this cylinder use. i missed it on that site before, thanks.3 januari 2008 om 18:13 #144746
.-{2F4OV}-.I’m sorry.. but I still don’t know exactly what you mean with “wrong size pipe” or “header pipe”. Could you explain it with a picture as example?
3 januari 2008 om 18:33 #144747I think he means the diameter of the exhaust port. On the pinasco it’s (only) 22mm so (almost) any exhaust will fit.
17 januari 2008 om 22:06 #144826the parts showed up today! i am excited to start working on it! any tips? i ended up with the malossi case and crank, and the pinasco. stoked! thanks fredzzz!
