I made a jig to dress the belt to help with the floppy belt. I also opened up the variator to help get the belt to the top of the rear pulley. It’s much better off the line. I’m waiting for a larger carburetor to arrive then I’ll tune some more.13 oktober 2020 om 01:35 #802814I’ve been riding my grande around a bit after getting it reassembled.

Here is a video from riding up the hills in my neighborhood.
13 oktober 2020 om 09:19 #802816Nice, all is working well I see

You have some nice hill’s in the naberhood, thats a good test area 😉TICKLING BARN13 oktober 2020 om 11:45 #802829Love the hill,s
You realy need a vario over there. The acceleration downhill is a bit disappointing 😉 Maby you need bigger balls 😀
13 oktober 2020 om 12:02 #802830Haha, I wanted to compare the acceleration between my proma pipe vs the hacked Yamaha yz85 pipe so I didn’t think racing down the hills was important. This one is a simple build 43 malossi, 13.13 carb, stock crank cut for longer duration, gy6 scooter variator modified to fit, and 100mm clutch disks on a 12.25: 1 transmission. The bike tops out at 43mph (69km / h) on flat ground.
This is the video with the proma to compare, this was the first one I filmed the camera angle is worse.

5 maart 2021 om 20:57 #807921Looks sick! You could try and take it to Bonneville! Do you think I could use my motorized bicycle cdi on a stock vespa ignition? I’m picking up an electric engine soon but it doesn’t have an cdi and I really want to test it.

Bonneville is a 28 hour drive from where I live so I doubt any of my bikes will see the salt flats. I’m unsure if a bicycle cdi would work on a Vespa since the bicycle doesn’t use a pick up coil.More progress
10 maart 2021 om 19:36 #808146What engine is that ? Looks sick man
10 maart 2021 om 23:16 #808156Custom cases, simonini Vespa crank, athena 80cc minarelli horizontal scooter cylinder with 43mm stroke(claims 16-18hp), hpi ignition, reed valve with 24mm carburetor. I’m excited to get it running.
13 maart 2021 om 08:59 #808203Succes Joe, make it happen and let us know
TICKLING BARN13 maart 2021 om 22:06 #808230So to see you got it nice for each othor.

" />😆 yeah and I still have another frame to build.
17 maart 2021 om 13:00 #808364I swapped a techno estoril pipe on my grande. It took some work to fit on the bike, different header size, different mounting location. After a test ride I lost 15 mph off my top speed so I cut it apart to remove the restrictor cone.

17 maart 2021 om 17:50 #808373That pipe looks great on the bike, how much did you gain by cutting of the restrictor? About the cdi, i completely forgot about the vespa using a pick-up.
