I got the bike to run. Here is a video of the first start. I’m getting a lot of belt slap, but the bike is fast for the short ride I took.

This ignition don’t have a lightcoil. Where you take the electric Power for Lights etc.?

I’m going to try running the lights with led bulbs off of a drill battery, if it doesn’t last long enough I’ll get a larger battery.

You need a longer belt too. Cause this way you loose a lot of acceleration.

The belt is long enough it’s the wallaroo / fox belt so it’s wider than stock Vespa belt. I still need to make a spacer for the variator so the belt will sit on the variator shaft which will bring the belt to the top of the rear clutch cheeks.

What for a CDI is the new one?
                  I’m curious about the results.
When the spark is also weak, maybe I can give you a tip to increase the Sparkenergy.

I’m using a 8$ cdi box from a motorized bicycle engine. I’ve read that they get erratic timing at higher rpms. I have yet to experience this but I haven’t ridden the bike much due to not having the proper size jet.

This is the cdi I’m using

It looks very small. Watch out if the Cdi gets hot.
Du you have a Strobo-light? Can yoa check the timings?

The ktm box is actually smaller than the motorized bicycle cdi box you can see the exhaust old ktm box still on the subframe. I do have a timing light I need to check that next.

ECE2EF2C-330C-439F-8355-D4B9AE654516In the process of tuning the variators and carburetors on both the burgundy grande and kinetic. I reassembled my blue grande then snapped the crank, I’m in the process of rebuilding that engine now. I lightened the flywheel while it was apart. I don’t know how much lighter I could make it and still feel safe to ride it.

You got some cool projects going on man! I got a motorised bike myself at home. They are a lot of fun! You should write a how to on lightening the flywheel.
