Hi guys, I would be really happy if you could help me find out when was my Piaggio Ciao manufactured. I feel like I got scammed, this is the main reason!
Mihai14 januari 2024 om 12:13 #823371Hello Michael.
Very nice, I think you have a 1968 Ciao!
From factory with, 17″ wheels – suspension frontfork – normal clutch.
Do you have more pictures? From left en right side?
Thanks,Gr. Wim.
Een oude brommer is alleen leuk als sleutelen uw hobby is.14 januari 2024 om 12:21 #823372Yeah, the backend was changed by me, when I bought it (2-3 years ago) it was a thinner one with a big hole in the middle, exhaust was changed(original was rounded to edges), seat was changed (old one didn’t have PIAGGIO written on it), I don’t really know what to say about the headlight, it’s strange, I ‘ve never seen one like this on other Ciao’s.
I also think it was painted before I bought it. And I am pretty sure lots of things are not original on this :))

Mihai14 januari 2024 om 13:19 #823374Yes, it’s a ’68 Ciao.

This picture is a ’67 C9, is the same, just the wheels are 19″(C9)
Your handlebar is oke.
You need grey handlebar rubbers(domino)
You have the long decompression handle, thats oke.
Your seat is wrong, headlight is oke but must be grey plastic like sidecovers.
Also the tankcap must be grey like the side covers.
You need the blue cursief tank stickers.
The package carrier is wrong indeed as you say.
Then you can put a tool tray under the carriër.
Exhaust/muffler also as you say.
Rearlight is wrong.
Pedals are wrong.Gr. Wim.
Een oude brommer is alleen leuk als sleutelen uw hobby is.14 januari 2024 om 14:34 #823379So that is the thing I got from the last owner when I bought it, I live in Romania.
Mihai14 januari 2024 om 15:16 #823380Thats an original (italy)certificate from an other moped as you can see.
You can throw that away. If you be sure it isn’t the paper
of an other Ciao from you 😉I don’t know the rules in Romenia for a new identification.
Here in NL we need the buyers-seller nota with all specs
of buyer-seller-moped, we may make that paper by ourself.
And we must prove the year of building and sort of model/type.Then we go for the eximination with the moped, pay 185,- euro
Thats it. Maybe in your country something like that.Gr. Wim.
