What does it do/why is it better than regular points?

Regular Contact “punts” gets overheated and burned pretty fast.

the new type “effe“ contact points have a built in failure.
when youre engine runs over 6000rpm the little cam on the contact point will break en you`ll be stuk @ the middle of nowere.

the contact point `replacer` is a cunning little device wich allows you run it without points.
the drawback is that they get hot, and when they do, they will fail and no spark is generated.

i also drove with them but also went dead for no aparrent reason.
maybe you are better of with an “berini“ ignition, this is like electric ignition but with a light flywheel.
and fits in a normal contact point engine, (se) (evo) (stock)

De budget beun tjoener: geen geld is te duur of het werkt nog niet

Where can I read more about the Berini ignition? Where can it be bought?

you have to place an G.Z. (parts wanted) topic in the sales departement 😛
they are pretty rare so, finding one soon is going to be a problem i thing,
unless someone has one for sale right now but i don`t think so…

link to extra info (berini) + scroll the page a bit

I have a Kinetic Baghee/TFR (an Indian moped with a Ciao-like engine) with an ignition that looks exactly like in those photos. But unfortunately it is old and doesn’t seem to work properly.

youre lucky, that is a berini ignition.
maybe, you wil get it running, or find an other blackbox for it.
