a thicker base gasket will raise the ports and advance the timing. problem with doing that, though, is that it gives you a larger squish zone, lowering your compression.

Absolutly NOT,because you have to mill the top of the cilinder at the same thickness of the gasket.Or you have to turn off the cilinderhead,so he is going into the cilinder.

This is BTW for a standard DR70evo, the squish original was 2.2mm ! 😮 (now it is 0.7)
yeha, that’s what i meant about losing compression. i usually mill the heads on my motors no matter what for the higher compression.
