      Hello,

I have been having a continual problem with my rear variator. I recently bought brand new 100mm discs but when I put them on the rear clutch assembly and tighten down the nut the discs appear to be sitting crooked and there is a noticeable gap on one side where the discs should meet. When I spin the clutch assembly on the rear output shaft the discs appear to be a little wobbly. I have tried the discs on another clutch and the same thing remains. Is this normal to have a little gap on one side and not the other? See photos for clarification. Any info would be appreciated.

I think your problem is a worn brass bus. Normally it’s your Pulley’s who are worn, but there where you just bought a new 100MM set, this ain’t possible. There where you tried 2 clutches, it COULD be possible it’s your rear 100MM disk (The one you slide over the clutch.)

Did you buy an whole new set, or just the disk which has the circlip mounted on it?

The problem is, Those clutches get easily worn because of damp weather The brass bus experiences resistance, and gets warmer and warmer. Eventually killing the clutch (or pully’s)

Hope you got something with this info ;).

Concluding from your story you bought a set of new 100 mm discs. It seems that the sliding disc is just not straight.
That’s obviously not the way it’s intended.
Where did you buy this set? I would go back with it. Ask for a replacement and give this one back.

I came, I saw, and I forgot what I was doing...

I figured it wasn’t right because my other Vespa’s don’t have this problem. I bought both of the discs from a guy named Angelo in Italy as a replacement for my old damaged discs. I’ll email him about this issue. Thanks for your responses.
