Hello everyone ! i recently bought a 1973 C7E1T ciao and today i put the engine apart to change the points and capacitor. I checked the piston and saw the former owner put a brand new cylinder piston 38,2mm; is that ok ? I thought these engines (TU-M148) were supposed to have a 38,4 piston. One of the piston rings is a L shape is that ok ? Also i saw when i put the flywheel apart that the HT coil was inside the casing behind the flywheel and not outside on the frame…thanks for your help i’m a bit new to these tiny engines

A few engines had the HT coil inside the engine, then it’s most of the time a plastic black Bosch coil.
Check the cilinder if it’s 38,2 or 38,4 then you know.

With an old engine it’s beter to put new bearings and  seals in the case’s

            Ah, oké.
I thought the format owner put a 38,2 piston in a 38,4 cilinder.

No the 38.2 piston fits perfectly in the cylinder which are both brand new. I didn’t know there were 38.2 piston to be mounted with 12mm piston pin. It seems to be ok thanks for your help
