:: Pinasco flywheel for CDI?
-
Hi guys, does anyone know where you can buy a lightened Pinasco Flywheel for CDI ignition?
I have been looking at the Malossi ignition… But it is pretty expensive, is it worth it?
Its because i have a project with Speed engine CDI crankcase and i want quick throttle response for example wheelies, but the original flywheel is very heavy
The Pinasco flywheel for CDI is pretty difficult to find. Secondhand you will find them between 100-150 euro I think.In my opinion, it is worth it, but a lot of money for the quality Pinasco delivers. The spark, plastic and the build (new) is not plug and play.
If money is no problem, i would choose the Malossi one. It’s a lifetime investment
Okay. Is there any way i can shave some weight off the original or can i use a flywheel that is meant for Points ignition?
Yes this can also be done. If you got a milling machine to lighten the Piaggio flywheel. Normally this is 1,3kg and can be milled till around 1kg for safety reasons. It’s not possible to use a pointer flywheel, but there are some disks from Simonini which will turn your CDI ignition into a pointer ignition.
Unfortunately in the following link there are many broken or dead links to pictures, so i’ll hope a translator will help you? https://vespa-ciao.nl/forums/topic/vliegwiel-afdraaien-3/?m=posts
