Hi Guys,
After mostly asking questions here – and getting good answers for them!
i wanted to share my Moped with you.
I got it about one year ago (mopeds are rare now over here),it’s a 1997 Si montecarlo with kickstart.
it was in o.k condition, but far from excelent:

Worst problem was the electrical system, and it was the first i took care off.
many wires were rotten and the isolation was falling apart, which caused many short circuits – the head light was only working when the left turn signal was working.
so i took it all apart and fixed with new wires.
after that it was working ok, and since i wanted to modify it a little- i did many beginner misataks
Got a pipe, but not very good
got a new variator, but the Polini UTHA instaed of a realy good one.
Bigger jet and polini air filter.
I didnt get much improvment in total. but i used it like this until 2 months ago
11 december 2010 om 19:05 #466493Since the Si was not in perfect condition, i decided to rebuild it.

I started to take it apart

since i was taking it apart i figured i will rebuild the motor too, and if i rebuilding the motor why not put a kit on it.
11 december 2010 om 22:51 #466496Dude, that looks exactly like the Montecarlo they stole from me a month ago! Same colour and everything! Was that you??? lol
But jokes aside, i think your Si looks alright. It is a very rare model too (imo). Depending on where you live, you could come by some cheap 2nd hands parts that are still in good condition. For instance your front fender is pretty much whacked and straight (2nd hand) ones are really hard to come by… But if you’re good with tools, you might be able to repair your old one.
So anyway, it’s good to have you here with us. Keep us posted with the progress 😉
I’m also rebuilding a Si, when you get a chance, check out my page 😉 Cheers!
12 december 2010 om 12:38 #466519The story continues,
so i took everything apart and started working on the motor
After all the bearings and oil seals were out i did the port matching to the DR kit.
i also made the inlet bigger for the new 13 carb

then i installed new bearings and oil seals, closed the carter and installed the new piston and cylinder.
i cleand the head good and put it on, and the motor was ready.12 december 2010 om 12:53 #466520Next i stripped all the paint from the wheels – very hard work with paint stripper.
and painted the wheels flat black, and installed new Pirelli ML-75 tires
I also installed new oil seals for the front fork.
now i took all the other parts and went to the body shop, i worked with him and we finished the paint in one day

I took few days and assembly was done

I changed the turn signals to more elegant look

and it was done!

12 december 2010 om 12:58 #466521I still have some work to do:
I got the malossi multivar to install.
I orderderd a proma circuit pipe, not here yet.
I will probably need to replace my clutch bell and shoes because they are worn.
It’s not running so good now so i guess i need to do some fine tuning to the vario and jet.12 december 2010 om 13:14 #466523Nice moped ik like the white, you dont see that color much on a si
12 december 2010 om 13:25 #466524Looks good, with a new proma circuit it should go very nice.
Which country your from?
12 december 2010 om 13:52 #466304Wow.. you sure finished quick! And it looks great! This was my original colour scheme, but since white gets greasy and dirty faster than you can imagine, i opted for another colour.
And another thing, I think the headlamp looks better if you mount it about 6 inches from where it is now. Like right in front of the chrome part of the fork.
But it looks real good. Nice work 😉
12 december 2010 om 14:26 #466481I know but i dont have the mounts for lowering the headlight
12 december 2010 om 14:34 #466525hansieb :

14 december 2010 om 14:24 #466602Today i installed the malossi multivar (without the rear spring yet)
I was very pleased with the improvment it made, better acceleration and better top speed.
It should be intresting when my proma cc arive.27 december 2010 om 09:28 #466871Another Update,
Yesterday i installed my new Proma circuit pipe.
wow, what a diffrence in speed now, i think i can get to 70 km/h maybe more.
27 december 2010 om 09:38 #466872Nice “perso” and the SI looks very good.
Which kind of Vespa Piaggio related mopeds do you see in Israel?
Si, Ciao, Bravo etc.?27 december 2010 om 09:41 #466873The two that were most popular here are the Si and a dealim Liberty
today you dont see them at all, only scooters.
A friend of mine is resoring a 78 Ciao, and that’s the only one i know of. -
