Hey!
There has been some changes in the project. We’re building this Ciao so it can be ready for Swedens biggest meeting this summer. Because Simonini isn’t very fast with their new engine, we decided to go for the Malossi MHR instead so it will be ready for the meeting on July 23:d.
But after the summer, if the Simonini-engine is ready we will build a new Ciao with that engine too. 😉
Setup:
– Malossi MHR Engine
– Malossi MHR Krukas
– 20 mm carburator
– Malossi Too Bad
– Malossi DEPS 47mmStyling:
– EBR fork
– Disc-brakes (at least on the frontwheel)
– Shorted backshield
– No frontshield
– Killswitch
– Strenghtening barMore to come…
I’m gonna let the pictures talk for themselves. 🙂
I hope you guys like many pics :lol
Update 22/9 | Engine ready and the frame is painted!
Hey guys. I know I haven’t updated here in a really long time. Here comes a BIG update! The frame is painted, the intake is fixed, everything exept the disc-brakes and the killswitch is fixed. So the Ciao is ready for the streets tomorrow! 😀 I am sooo happy!

Update 30/7 | Good news!
It’s been a long time since I uppdated here, not much has happened but I finally have som good news! It really looks like we’ve fixed all the problems with the carburator. Now we’re just waiting for a company to help us with it and they are back from their vacation on August 7:th. 🙂 They are also gonna help us fasten the discbrake because we need a TIG to do that.
When that is fixed, all we need to do is paint the frame and then the Ciao is done! Well, here is some pictures:
We’re gonna cut off that flat thing on the intake so it’s just the round thing left. You see where I painted black, that’s were we’re gonna cut.
Imagine this picture without that flat thing on the intake. We will fasten the round intake with a TIG right on the manifold.
This is how it’s gonna be when it’s done. The intake isn’t fastened to the manifold on this picture.
It fits pretty good 😀
We have two different “strenghtening bars”, I dont know which one we will use but I think the round one. What do you guys think? 🙂Update 9/7 | Carburator problems & some other pics
Well, now is the engine in one piece, and the intake manifold problem is kind of “half-fixed”. And of course, now there is another problem…
The carburator we bought from Mopshop doesn’t fit in the frame, it’s too big. We have an idea of how to solve the problem though, hopefully this week. I’m getting kind of tired of all the problems now… I just wanna start this monster! 🙂
Also some pictures of the rims with new tyres and our new handlebar with a half-polished break-oil box.
Enjoy.
Update 1/7 | Mopshop things
Yesterday we got our things from Mopshop. It was a huge box with many nice things. 😀
As I expected, the Honda-inlet didn’t fit but we’ve got some ideas of how to fix it anyway.
Now we only miss some basic things that we’re gonna buy from our local mopedstore on monday. I hope this Ciao will be ready to roll in a week or two 8)Update 29/6 | Malossi Too Bad
Today we recieved the Malossi Too Bad Exhaust. 🙂
Nothing else has happened with the homemade intake because I didn’t find the right size of metal to make the round thing that you put the carb on, and I’ve been kind of busy aswell. 😐
And yesterday I saw that Mopshop have that 19mm carburator-kit for the MHR Engine 😮
Anyway our other stuff from Mopshop will arrive tomorrow so then we’ll see if that Honda intake will fit. 😀
Update 18/6 | Starting to make a homemade intake
Today I began to make an intake, if the intake I ordered from mopshop shouldn’t fit, we can use this one. Now I just gonna make the round thing that you put the carb on.
Update 16/6 | MHR Engine
Today we got the engine from 50cc.nl so here’s some pictures of the engine and the cilinder.
This is the start of the project, with the frame, rims, fork and some other stuff.
Let us know what you think of it so far!

(sorry if im making faults :p)20 mei 2006 om 21:53 #268660nice colours 😉
20 mei 2006 om 22:02 #268661Nice idea to show it to us first
Keep up the good work 😉
I know that this ciao is going to be very cool, just like the other one :lol20 mei 2006 om 22:12 #268662R.oel!: Well, I think this one will be better than the last one! Both the engine and the paint! 8)
Wouz-LwB: Thanks man, we will keep this one in our appartment ALL THE TIME so it won’t get stolen. We really learned a lesson… Hopefully you don’t have to wait very long for this Ciao to be ready, if Simonini keep their word the engine will be ready in a couple of weeks and we’re gonna order it as soon as they tell us it’s ready! 🙂
edje: Thanks, it’s kind of hard to get the colour on photo, but I’ll give you a movie when the Ciao is painted!
PoliniCiao: Yeah, I figured since you won’t be at the meeting here in Sweden, it doesn’t matter if I show you, but we want it to be a big surprice for the people in Sweden. 😀
20 mei 2006 om 23:07 #268663Man, this is awesome!!!
Don’t you think it would be a good idea to make a ‘strenghtening bar’ like on your pink ciao?
And can you tell us a little about how you made the disc brake?
Very cool project, thanks for sharing.
21 mei 2006 om 01:40 #268664Very nice millen you make sweden proud. Sweden is a very nice country been there last year on a holiday to OSBY. Very nice fishing and that sort of stuff no mopeds 🙁 but keep on your work millen and also on this site its cool to have an bit of an outstider on this site.
Cool your girlfriend like’s ciao’s and speed to i like that.
21 mei 2006 om 09:03 #268665Edjuh: Yeah, we’re gonna make a strenghtening bar aswell, I just didn’t know what to call it in english.. 🙂 There will be more than just the few things on the list, I just have to figure a way to write it in english.
We’re gonna fasten the disc break the same way we fasten the strenghtening bar (I don’t know the word in english, but I guess you understand) on the rim. Then we put the Brembo-ok with screws on the front-fork. Maybe not the best explination, but I can take some pictures later today that will show you better.
hansieb: Thanks! I hope to inspire more Ciao-riders in Sweden with this project. In Holland Ciao seems to be quite popular? It’s scooters that rules here in Sweden, but I hope I can race and win over scooters with this new engine. 😉
21 mei 2006 om 09:07 #268666
Jelle89i think that you will go way faster than a scooter, here are much scooters as well, but vespa rulez..:P..
21 mei 2006 om 09:18 #268667Jelle89: I hope at least I will go faster than the midrace-scoots but I don’t think I have a shot against the hyperscoots with nos… :con
21 mei 2006 om 10:06 #268668hi millen,
again a great perso, sad to hear about your last ciao…
we (atleast i) understand how you gonna fix the break disc, although i love to see some pictures.wish you all the luck you need with this project. definately like your style:D
21 mei 2006 om 11:49 #268669Hello, I like your project. How fast should it be? I’ts al special colour, are the rims also vespa rims? Can’t wait to see it drive! Can you make a movie at the gothenburg-meeting?
21 mei 2006 om 12:53 #268670why you take the simonini & not the sprocatti??????
21 mei 2006 om 12:58 #268671Yeah that would be cool, pics and movies of your ciao at a big show:)
Millen, i’m not sure about the right word for ‘strenghtening bar’ either, at least we know what we’re talking about:D
I guess you ‘weld’ the disc brake suspension on the fork?
@Jacky, those rims are used on Si’s and CBA’s, so i guess they are vespa rims yes.
