Hello. Im building me a new Ciao and a new Malossi MHR Engine but i really dont know what Cylinder kit i should use. I dont want the best performance just the best optimal cylinder for that Engine. Is it the 47mm DEPS or will it work with the 46,5mm malossi or the 46mm polini kit. What is the best for that engine. Whats your thoughts.
17 september 2015 om 09:19 #148269All those cylinderkits work well with the malossi reedvalve engine. One brand you didnt mention is the pinasco which has a lot of potential (see Waarom? ’s projects).
D.e.p.s. kits are very fast as well, especially with a little work on the exhaust port.
The cases can be easily matched to the cylinder since they have the deps port (one reason to use that kit on your RV) and small sideports, so enough material to remove.
17 september 2015 om 14:21 #148270So you think that i should buy the 47mm deps cylinder. I really dont like the alu cilinders i like the iron cylinders more but if the deps is the best performance on that carter i will buy it. And of course the 19mm carb. What exhaust should i use, i really like the polini sp but i dont know whats best for this engine. How fast can it be the MHR engine?

I’d say that the Malossi requires less modding to the MHR cracnkcase, due to it already have the DEPS port and was made for the crank case. have you already bought the reed case? I’ve read here that the new generation of the reed valve isn’t as good quality as the old ones.. Maybe consider a polini SE?
Peopple seem to have good results with the Simo Calibrata, the same exhaust I will use in my project (If I ever get it finnished, I aimed at the stars regarding the motor, as you can read in my perso LOL)
I was debating over Malossi DEPS aswell, but ended up with a Pinasco 46mm after recomendations from the forum..17 september 2015 om 19:13 #148272Ha ha ha ja ja lever o nu ska det buggas massa nytt kul. Well i have already bought the mhr engine but today i saw a new thin on a ciao site here in sweden and its this rotor system: http://www.trimbutiken.se/piaggio-ciao/tandsystem-vespa-ciao-brytarlost.html
But i maybe will buy the 47mm malossi or buy me a new speed engine or a simonini if that ignition will fit on it in some way.
17 september 2015 om 19:34 #148273That is a bit sneek version of the bigger HPI ignition, you can compare the CDI curves here:
http://hpi.be/item.php?item=210K221 (The one you saw)
http://hpi.be/item.php?item=068K221 (The bigger one, as I will use)Did he have a fan installed, or did he run with the rotor as is? What was his setup overall?
The problem is that you will not be able to fit a standard fan over that ignition, you have to build your own in that case.Booth HPI rotor systems are made to fit a CP case (Brytar block, eller CDI block) and youu have to mill down the fixation points, the linnks I provided will show installatiion manual.
Edit: I see now that you only saw it online only, and not in person 🙂
17 september 2015 om 20:23 #148274Exacly how will it be with the flywhheel because if you only have the hpi there is no cooling at all and that sucks
18 september 2015 om 06:50 #148275there are som options:
1. LC KIT
2. Electric fan, installed in the frame somehow.
3. Build your own flywheel/fanThis is how I will solve it:
http://www.vespa-ciao.nl/forums.php?m=posts&q=34070This weekend if I’m lucky, I wilol 3D print a mockup to see how it fits 🙂
