Hi, after the summer i have gotten tired of my setup (italkit 65, overported intake etc..) So during the winter i’m going to upgrade the engine a whole lot. I recently bought a side-intake, eurocilindro 17,5mm.

The first question is, what 46mm cylinders are the best/most priceworthy? i’ve been looking on malossi and athena, polini feel a bit overpriced. (correct me if i’m wrong)
Note that it has to be a 12mm pin.

The second question is, what exhaust would be good for the setup? i’m not really intrested in polinis exhausts, they are really mainstream here in Sweden, meanwhile no one uses exhaust lika ninja usine, simonini, fabrizi etc.
I really like the looks of ninja usine, simonini calibrita and fabrizi.

so which cylinder/exhaust would give most effect, and still hold for long? also wondering what carburator you recommend, 17,5-19mm. Want it to fit easy.

so the whole setup will be kinda like this:

Cylinder: XX
Exhaust: XX
Block: Original big half, eurocilindro sideintake 17,5mm
Carburator: Random 17,5/19mm
Clutch etc: Superbravo Nav(not sure if its the right word), Probably polini vario and 100mm clutch
Airfilter: XX

Thanks in preliminary!

If it’s possible and still available i would choose the 46mm pinasco black. Perhaps change the crankshaft to a 10mm pin, so you have more to choose.

For more info about exhaust performance, please take a look here /forums.php?m=posts&q=21285

If i can choose i would take this:

Cylinder: 46mm Pinasco black
Exhaust: Simonini calibrata (or fabrizi racing)
Block: Original big half, eurocilindro sideintake 17,5mm
Carburator: Dell orto 19mm
Clutch etc: Superbravo Nav(not sure if its the right word), Probably polini vario and 100mm clutch
Airfilter: XSH/Twin air

Hey,
I think I can help you. First thing is the cilinder. You are right, the Polini is too expensive and too slow. I think the 46mm Pinasco Black edition is very good. when you tune the boostports it will run very nice. and if you have enough money, buy the calibrata! it will run very good!!! If you have the possibility, put a 19 mm carb on it! But I think it will run good with a 17,5er too.

Of Course you can buy a Malossi Big Deps Alu and a Fabrizi and so on but it will be very expensive. The Pinasco and Calibrate is not too expensive and runs fast. And if you tread the engine right you have fun a long time 😉

Haha sorry Hans! We wrote at the same time. And I didnt know what you answered but said the same 😉 😀

Edit by hans: No problem, it’s always good to hear diffrent opinions

Hanseib: Where can i find pinasco black edition then? been looking on mopshop, moparts, jmpb etc..
Think it would be too expensive to change crankshafts and stuff like that, so im gonna stick to the 12 pin. Aren’t there adapters that you can put in it that makes it like a 10 pin?

the problem with that link is that i dont understand any dutch at all :/ but i will try to read with google translate, even thought it sucks.

Yannick93: that’s what i thought about the polini 😛 but what about malossi/athena, shouldnt they be good? since pinasco sounds expensive, and maybe doesnt have 12 pin? yeah think im gonna put a 19mm on directly, since the intake is 17,5 anyway. if i get bored of the effect i can just drill it to 19mm.

fabrizi is almost too expensive, i might afford it after winter, and i think it would be worth the money. Where could i find malossi big deps alu? second hand?

By the way, is changing gear in backwheel neccesary? thought of if it will ”overrev” with standard gears and vario..

i aint sure if im gonna buy a exhaust, or build one myself. Home built should have higher effect since its tuned for the cylinder, but it takes some time especially if you want it to look good..

Is ninja usine any good at all? what about a athena/malossi and ninja usine/simonini calibrata, should that be enough for some ok power?

EDIT: Wonder if i understand you link right, does pinasco 46mm polini evo engine only give 1,85 kilowatts power? :S

It is no Problem to make a 12mm Pin into a 10mm. Many Germans did it very often.

I think you dont understand german but just look at the pictures. I think you have to get the Pinasco from italy of Switzerland.

Which gear do you have in the backwheel?

the Big Deps Alu is not easy to find and very very expensive !

hmm will go ahead and check the link now then 🙂

Can you link some site from italy/switzerland? only know swedish/dutch/german sites..

only know that the Nav(not sure of the word, its the thing that you put in the rearwheel that you put the clutch on) is from a special edition piaggio bravo from norways, it have wheels similar to baghee wheels and vario instead of normal clutch.
Will use original ciao wheel or 4-ekred from a superbravo. Will skip the deps then 😉

here is some pictures on the bike btw;

overtuned engine…

edit: found the cylinder with 12 pin: http://www.scootertuning.ch/product_info.php/info/p15196_Zylinderkit-Pinasco—-46mm–alu–inkl–Zylinderkopf–Piaggio-Ciao-Boxer.html

I took a look on the ports; http://www.vespa-ciao.nl/tuning/80pinasco.jpg
It doesnt look good? only 4 transfers, others have like at least 6? whats so good with this cylinder compared to athena/malossi, the strenght? higher top speed? holds longer?
