:: Twin carbs, will it work?
-
I have an idea to apply two carbs to feed my engine good.
One carb should be thru the side intake and one thru the ported stock inlet.
The small carb should be opening first securing good idle and low end torque and the large carb should open a little later to feed the engine at high revs.
Does anyone know how that could work?
Is it a waste of time, will it work just as good with only my 19mm PHGB thru the side intake?
If I want to try it, does anyone know a source to a wire splitter?
Anything else to consider in this matter?
it is possible, but it depends on your setup.
it could be an overkill and it is most likely that the 19mm carb wil preform the best.
if you want to go a bit over the top you could choose a 21mm phbg carb.
if it will suit your setup you could make the decompression handle to a second gas handle.
so the original gas handle will use the carb on the stock inlet and the decompression handle will use the big carb on the side inlet.
the other option is indeed a cable splitter, but with that mounted you will use both of the carbs at the same time.
@twinboxer, i didn’t know that some of the splitters had that function.
I agree it will be overkill.
However I do use 2 carbs with a cable splitter on my Bravo project. They are operated using a commercial cable splitter. Unlike Lastpaks statement it is always individually adjustable by adjusting the cable slack on the carb. Although in my setup they are fully synchronized.

my sister’s boyfriend has one 13/13 on the main inlet/gas handle
and a 12/10 on the side inlet, witch is activated with the decompressien handle.
it works perfectly fine!
I guess when you use a 19mm carb it will overkill using 2 carbs.

Why only use 2 carbs, when you can use 3 😉
