I´m planning for a tuned SuperBravo and my eyes fell on the Malossi reed valve crankcase.
I see the opportunity to get a good intake, better than to open the small stock intake.
Is it worth the money to spend on these parts?
They recommend a full round crankshaft but will it work with a stock crank too?
I see that it will not fill the case as it should but the round cranks seems to be out of stock.Any opinions about that?
13 oktober 2011 om 15:06 #146264Just make sure you get your hands on the old Reedvalve crankcases. The newer ones(production dated 2010) are known for having more problems.
Even if Malossi recommend the full round crank’s just a stock Piaggio crank would be fulfilling. It seems the whole pressure build up stories doesn’t have much practical effect on vespa carters.
13 oktober 2011 om 17:20 #146265why would you buy it?
Only for the bigger carb?
I think you should only buy this cranks combinated with the DEPS cilinders…I would rather consider a EVO engine?

Thanks for the input.
I imagine the stock crankcase is a bit limited when it comes to power even with the intake opened as much as possible.
Those aftermarket crankcases seems to flow a lot more than any modified stock part, am I wrong on that?
I must stop at 70 cc´s as that is the true limit at the local race I will take part of next spring.
How big is the DEPS cylinder?13 oktober 2011 om 20:06 #146267too big for “70“`true cc the deps is like 72cc or something.
only thing you can do then is go for a 43mm cilinder witch is aprox. 65ccevo engine works very good with 46 polini cilinder, massive torque and a medium rpm count. (2 valves)
malossie rv engine is good also but needs tuning and preperation. (4 valves)
few minors:– fly rubs agianst crank case
– most crank shafts touch the crank case (witch causes jamming)1
– needs tuning for optimal performansei drove it with DR evo 43 and a 19mm carb, and it went to 10.120 rpm 😛 (88 km/h)
but not much of torqueDe budget beun tjoener: geen geld is te duur of het werkt nog niet

+ there’s a big negative issue for the RV; On the base where the cylinder meets the crankcase, you only have the 2 transfers on the base, just as the original cases.. And 1 quite big port, but that is specifically for the DEPS cylinder.. So if you planned to mount a regularly used cylinder like 46,5 Malossi, or the 46 PM, you would have to mill in your brand new carters!
BUT;
(example); if you buy the EVO cranks, in combination with the 46 PM, the ports will match nearly perfectly, as there are already some remarkable transfer ports in the cranks, contrary to the RV.. And this is a very big plus, for me 😉
Your choice 😉
13 oktober 2011 om 21:14 #146269otherwise , if you can find a Simo side inlet, you can combine it with the standard half cranckcase , so that you can use also a 1313 dell’orto carburetor.
In my opinion this combination should be the best.
The only difficulties is that you have to set up the two carburetors very well, in order to get the best throttel response.14 oktober 2011 om 03:56 #145861piontek :

One large carb on the side intake should do the trick.I look for a Simo side inlet, perhaps I can find one and test it myself.
