:: Weak clutch? What´s wrong and how to cure it?
-
I got some pictures from a swedish guy and I´d like some advice about them.
They show a clutch that´s been worne and malfunctioning due to the taps on the rigid part of the belt drive.

Have you seen this before and do you know the reason and how to fix it?

(BSN)finish first
maby there is just to much tension/power behind it cousing the original vario to die of all the force on only those 2 nipples
i think buying a malossi or a polini vario would be the best idea becouse they dont use that (weak) system
It’s caused by the malossi spring and not properly mounting the M24 bolt. This must be secured with a lock ring, where 2 of the “corners” of the ring beaten around the bolt.
Only option is (for this clutch) flexing the clutch-segments so you can get to the springs, and weld it down. So you’ll still have a functioning clutch. i’ve had the exact same problem, the “spiebanen” of the clutch wore out. I welded it, and driving perfectly 2 years now. With different setups.
Gr niek.
Thanks for the reply, Niek.
I think I need some advice about my clutch.
It´s a replacement clutch I got from a dutch seller: http://www.jmpbparts.com/ciao/motordelen/variodelen/achterkoppeling-cpl-imi.html
My question is if this is a clutch that is good for my bike built for acceleration?
Will I get any improvement by installing a yellow Malossi spring?
Will this clutch break down as the pictures above or will it handle fast accelerations OK?
The size of the belt wheels are 90 millimeters, I assume that 100 mm´s would be a little better for me but I
will run the bike with a quite low gearing, maybe the 14,5:1 that was with the bike so I will try it and see.
So, is the clutch OK for me or shall I find a better one at once?
If so, what do you suggest as a better clutch for a sprint racer?
