hello 😀 l have a question
l talk about a normal 44mm stoke , and if it is to big and not fit the carter
will l put it intro a turning lathe and make it fit 🙂
l will coures remove the right site of the cranshaftbut the my big question is :
do the scooter crankshaft fit intro the bearing , in the carter ?
(simolini carter)ty , André 🙂
23 februari 2011 om 20:22 #146077I expect so, you might be on finding the right bearings
and ofcource, you will driving with a front vario of a scooter…?
23 februari 2011 om 20:25 #146078the simolini carter use 6202 bearing ,, and a scooter use 6204 … 😀
and yes coures 🙂
23 februari 2011 om 20:55 #146079l will put the carter intro a turning lathe and make it fit.. 🙂
23 februari 2011 om 20:57 #146080I’m afraid it won’t work, the crankshaft of a scooter is wider than a vespa crankshaft.
The simonini carter has 2 sizes of bearings! One small one (6202) and one large one (XXXX)
l will put the carter intro a turning lathe and make it fit..
Then you are milling away the aluminium your bearings are housed in
Comparisson of width between honda NSR50 crankshaft and Simonini2007 crankshaft:

I think the NSR50 crankshaft has near identical dimensions as for example a minarelli horizontal crankshaft

Home made engine dyno23 februari 2011 om 21:02 #146081what do you meen with that ?
the carter is in aluminium
23 februari 2011 om 21:04 #146082Width : Not die diameter of the crank but the distance between the insides of the bearings.

Home made engine dyno23 februari 2011 om 21:09 #146083hmm l will cut the right site of the cranshaft off (ignition site)
do you understand 🙂 ?but it will not work `?
23 februari 2011 om 21:11 #146084You don’t understand me, i’m talking about the part of the crankshaft that is actually inside the crankcase.

Home made engine dyno23 februari 2011 om 21:19 #146085yes l don´t understand you .. :S
but where can l an crankshaft Simonini race 44 ?
or somthing els that fit a simolini carter , with the stok 44 ?23 februari 2011 om 21:40 #146086This is the problem: I am pretty cerain that the red width is larger than the green width

Milling the crank down is with most cranks very difficult because they are hardned. Milling the engine is no option because then there is to little space te mount the bearings.
I’ve had a 44stroke simo crankshaft, it was a simo crankshaft made for the old simo engine. This crankshaft is also available in 46mm stroke. All simonini crankshafs for vespa are 74mm in diameter.

The left one = simo 44 strok, The right one = malossi 43mm stroke (and 70mm in diameter)

Home made engine dyno23 februari 2011 om 21:52 #146087hmm ok 🙂 do you know where l can buy an old simo crank ?
waht about this cranksaft: http://www.speedline.dk/da/scooter/krumtap-motoforce-standard-oe10mm-mf30-19400/
its not so wide 🙂
24 februari 2011 om 05:48 #146088Hi,
I read the mail you send me on youtube.
I think you have to look after a crank that is small but even strong.
Next i have seen a vidio on youtube of a Italian man that have made a scoot crank in hit reed valve engine.
If you ask me, it is posible but you have to find of a cnc machine or a crank that have te good mesurements.
The bearings i wood make the crank a litle smaller so the original will fith in it.
Think logic.
Greetz.
25 februari 2011 om 23:15 #146089ok thanks :=)
