      Hi,

I just replaced the clutch housing, complete with start shoes, to a never version with smaller pulley diameter (the really old ones has larger front pulley diameter).

After reassembling everything the start shoes didn’t make contact with the clutch no matter how fast a ran with the bike… I naturally thought I had made some mistake putting it back together so I took it apart, checked that the start shoes moved freely, that the engine wasn’t stuck etc. I couldn’t find anything wrong but it still didn’t work.

I then switched back to the other clutch housing that worked just fine when I started the bike a few hours earlier but now this clutch housing and clutch has the same problem :((

I just can’t find what’s wrong, any ideas?

      /Dea

Did you by any chance put the start shoes in the wrong direction? Try switching them to point the other way ;)!

I think you turned them the wrong way round.

The shoes should be like this:

Just checked and the shoes are (unfortunately…) mounted correctly.

Dit you tried to degrease your clutch house from the inside.

And have you also put the wasser back ( i mean the ring that comes between the ignitionwheel and the clutch
                housing).

Removed the springs and now it works 😀
From time to time I still have to run a few meters before the start shoes engage.
All washers are in place and the clutchhousing has been degreased and the surface roughed up a bit.
Still not sure why they started sticking but I will file the inner sides of the start shoes and use some high-temp grease to get them to move easier.

                  /Dea
