hello,
I got funny 2-gear Bravo components. It is a complete 2-gear drive from a Bravo with gearbox, clutch, hand shifter, krukas and some rolls and drive belt.I’m now looking for every piece of information I could get about that drive system.
Such like, what gear ratio do the two gears have, how does it work, how to tune it, does it fit into a Ciao……
So every info or picture about that drive is welcome

26 juni 2010 om 09:20 #145773Nice!
26 juni 2010 om 09:27 #145774Vincent has it done on his Ciao. But he had to fusing his frame. He has a special or perso on this site with pictures.
26 juni 2010 om 10:00 #145775yes, I thought so to modify the Ciao frame.
Good advice
I will check Vincent’s perso26 juni 2010 om 10:06 #145776Here’s the special btw. http://vespa-ciao.nl/forums.php?m=posts&q=10382

I was looking for it but could not find it.
26 juni 2010 om 10:54 #145779dude nice!! keep it, and don’t give up;)
Some time ago i started a topic about the 2-speed, because i was really wondering how it worked.. i asked some extra infromation , also some ”historical” truths ;):)
here the link

26 juni 2010 om 11:09 #145781Hi piet, out the top of my head; the gear ratio’s should be around 1:16,5 for first gear and 1:11(1:9,5) for second gear. But this is also simply to find when turning the wheel around and count how many times your clutch will go round. Keep in mind that these ratio’s don’t do any good when comparing to the conventional poulie system. Because of the different diameters in clutch and forpoulie.
It also looks like you’ve got the whole complete system wich is very rare to find.
Only thing to worry about is the crank. It looks like it has the timigs for a “snorkruk”26 juni 2010 om 11:18 #145782yes, saw the gear ratios.

If I compare this with Vario and Malossi vertanding the 2-gear system may have advantages =)
Right, the kruk looks like a snorkurk. As I don’t want to modify the kruk I thought putting it in an membran block like Polini EVO or ReedValve. 😀
26 juni 2010 om 11:20 #145783i posted a comment on the 2gear project.. i was wondering why Vincent suddenly stopped 😛
It’s amazing how much rare parts are mounted on his ciao
-polini 41 lc complete
-the radiator
-2Gear
-Kickstarter
-rear brake with foot 😀hope your 2Spead will work great, one day 😉
26 juni 2010 om 11:33 #145784hehehe, that is crazy, I also thought about to put my Polini LC kit on a Polini Evo for that project 😀
Was Vincent’s 2-gear Ciao with LC engine running fast? And why was he using the big diameter pouly on the kruk?
I think with that big diameter the ratio in second gear could be much to long. 😮
26 juni 2010 om 11:53 #145785I thought Vincent was using this modified clutch as pouly simply because he had not the original crank an pouly.
I also thought about using this 2 gear crank in an membran block or to press this axel in another crank with better timings. And yes somewhere in his perso(vincent) is a movie at wich you clearly can hear the ratio is to long for second gear.
26 juni 2010 om 12:35 #145786Martino, that’s true 😉
@ Piet: hehe, i think he’ll be happy with our comments, so maybe he’ll pick everything up again.. fingers crossed XD
26 juni 2010 om 14:46 #145787Martino :
I thought Vincent was using this modified clutch as pouly simply because he had not the original crank an pouly.I have bougth the 2speed set from vincent some year ago, and by this set came also a couple of orginal poeli,s and a orginal crank(with brom timing if I remember it right)
But he was riding with a normal vespa crank becourse he had modified a back poeli from the 2speed by forcing in a inerpart of normal clutch from vespa.
(A bit difficult to say in englisch:D)
And that he had no speed in gear 2 lays in the fact that he had not enough power in his engine, I will bett that my 43mm euro block will take that second gear easy
EDIT
Here some pics of the modified clutch/poeli

For montage you need a (vleugelmoer) and than welt that to the poeli.
And that works fine where vincents words. And my crank is also a snor crank I quess?

But special thing about this crank was that it is a kick crank

(at least vincent was saying that it was very rare)
