Hi Guys
I would like to hear some of your thoughts on the above exhaust for my engine configuration.
I feel i may of made a mistake in buying it as i have heard that performance wise not brilliant.
As such i was toying with the idea of changing it for a Calibrata, i am alos on variomatic transmission.
it’s not on the bike yet so i can’t confirm myself how it runs.
Tell me what you think please.
thanks for your help.
Giuseppe10 december 2010 om 14:14 #145389hi
Could you show us a picture of that Exhaust.? Altissimo will mean something with a exhaust that is going highwards?
EDIT: After some research , i think it is the Simonini 100 cc Exhaust system ?
It’s quite normal it isn’t performing that well on a 72cm³ Setup. This Exhaust is made specifically for the Simonini Complete Engine 2007..
10 december 2010 om 14:17 #145364yes.
i think you guys know it as the simo thunder which is mounted on the simo engine.
does that help at all.
i can’t seem to put a picture on but if you google it you can’t miss it.thanks
Giuseppe
10 december 2010 om 14:18 #145958check my EDIt 😉
10 december 2010 om 14:20 #145959lovely thank you Tnerual.
yes the 100cc it is!! sorry
looks like i did make a mistake in buying it then.
i may have to spend more money and get a Calibrata.
thanks.
Giuseppe10 december 2010 om 14:22 #145960hhm, No problem!
Bwoh, i think you could keep the exhaust, and maybe you could buy another one, indeed.. But in what angle is this exhaust performing badly?
Bad start, bad acceleration, not the top you expected to have,…?
10 december 2010 om 14:25 #145961Hi
well i haven’t tried it yet as i still have the engine in pieces because i am putting the frame together.
seeing as though i have a vario i bought the exhaust thinking it would be good for top end as i do not require it to perform on take off due to the transmission i have.i just heard that it wasn’t a good performer on other engines apart from the one it was made for so got me thinking.
kind regards
Giuseppe10 december 2010 om 14:28 #145962Notice this exhaust is out there with different flanges 22mm and 30mm. Indeed for smaller cylinders this exhaust performs rather bad, but for your setup i would like to see this is also the case?
The Calibrata is definitely a good pipe. Only your setup is with a more then standaard setup and not to forget vario. So i don’t think it would be of much difference between the two Simonini’s.
10 december 2010 om 14:29 #145963Well, keep in mind; Each engine is different .. Each one is special, unique, a bit like people in the world 😀
And as you got a nice setup, I would give it a bet and wait till your Moped is ready to fire up!Maybe it will performing not too bad. Also, don’ forget, you ‘ve got a Variator, so you’ll have to fine tune it a bit.. ( Contrast spring Backwards, clutch springs, and also last but not least, the 6 rollers in the variator itself)
So, I wouldn’t make conclusions before it has performed in real. I think you have to test it. What you are thinking about the exhaust, are some experiences, allright with that, but maybe you’ll be pritty satisfied with the exhaust?
Ow yes, very important; what’s your goal? High top, or,
Good Luck! Afterwards you are always able to tell us how it is performing!
10 december 2010 om 14:31 #145964Hi
yes mine is on a 22mm connection for the pinasco black.
my setup is a pretty fast going one so you would of thought the 100cc should perform well.
i would rather not spend the extra money but if i have to i will due to the calibrata giving higher rpm’s at top end.oh yes of course i would need to fine tune it a little with the rollers, maybe like you say i will give it a go and see how it performs it might be satisfying.
seeing as though i have a vario i was looking at more top end really as the vario will do the work to give me a quick start.
i already have the yellow malossi springs and contrast spring ready to fit in the clutch to give it more strength.
thanksGiuseppe
10 december 2010 om 16:52 #145965It’s all in the name giuseppe, and you know what that means! It’s a great pipe for top speed, on an old simo engine it’s faster that the calibrata.
Hopefully this goes for the combination with the pinasco kit as well( I have my doubts though, my money would be on the calibrata). The performance at lower rpm’s is poor, but your variator takes care of that.
10 december 2010 om 17:52 #145966I like the calibrata allot! Nice power and performs well 🙂
The perfect example with a 46mm pinasco, RV engine, 19mm and a simonini calibrata.
10 december 2010 om 21:26 #145967H Hi Guys
