Hello,
Anyone of you using the malossi RV carter together with the Malossi crankshaft?
I bought a revise kit from JMPB with bearings and shim, I fitted the shim behind the bearings but now I can’t seem to close the both carter halfs. and if I tighten the screw, the crank shaft will not turn. The inner runner of the bearing, on the small shaft side.. is not flush with the shaft, even though it’s firmly mounted, should it be flush?
Is it possible that there shouldn’t be shims on the malossi crankshaft? On the shaft itself there seem to be flanges, like built in shims, could it be that theese are sufficent and I don’t need the “original” shims?Anyone of you guys remember when you assembled your motor? 🙂
Regards
ManiEDIT: in this picture you can see the flange on the crank shaft

10 maart 2014 om 21:38 #146505You mean like “no, shims ARE needed” or more like “NO shims are needed”, just want to make sure that I understood you correct 🙂
Normal shims are like 0,55mm? thick.. The flange on the crank is thinner, maybe 0,35-0,40 (my digital caliper is broken) This won’t be any problem?

10 maart 2014 om 21:52 #146510Yes, you already have the shims what you call “flanges” on the cheeks of these cranks. So the extra shims from a revision kit you can use for whatever other then that of this build.
10 maart 2014 om 21:58 #146511Well, that solves this evenings mystery. 🙂
Thanks guys, what would I do without this forum? 😀10 maart 2014 om 22:23 #146512sx3-swe :

Thanks guys, what would I do without this forum? 😀Start your own forum/site. How is the community in Sweden since we have seen more people from scandinavia using this forum as well. Maybe there is also an all swedish community and internet acces through a site or forum possible? Would be interested to be affiliated to such a site.
16 maart 2014 om 12:32 #146513I don’t really have time for my own website/forum. The community in Sweden is kind of poor, especially on the vespas. There is a site for all common mopeds, and a dedicated thread for Ciao’s, it’s kind of messy. This forum is really great 🙂
